Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

This is a must do experience in Iceland. It’s well organised and you can arrange transfer by bus via the website to get you there; there is an hourly service and the coaches are new. We bought the premium package and found a place to leave our robes away from the majority of others. Everybody strolls around in almost slow motion - hilarious to participate in but also v relaxing. The water temperature varies around the lagoon but there are plenty of warm spots to enjoy. The premium product provides a free drink and two treatments (including complimentary scrub). Your skin will feel young again - not hype! There are plenty of products to buy but just close your eyes at the expense. If you can be bothered claiming tax back at airport the staff will confirm what you have to do.

Loved it !!! However, I returned to the US and developed a navel abscess infection - I can only relate this to the Blue Lagoon. In so far as either the water or Spa Retreat somehow got bacteria into my belly button and festered and got infected - I strongly recommend- not only showering before but showering extremely well after each session.

Best,

John

Spent the day with family (2 kids, 8 & 14) we all loved it, so much so that soon as we got back to London we planned our return trip to iceland and the lagoon of course. Easy to get to, staff very friendly, easy to purchase drinks with bracelet. I wouldn'tpurchase the premium entrance that includes robes and dlippers, because everyone end up using everyone elses, plus you spend more time in the lagoon or inside. But highly recommend a visit or 2.

Although it's expensive ($92 US Dollars), it is a great experience. Hint: Book early! It's just as relaxing as you image it to be.

Due to proximity to the international airport in keflavík, the blue lagoon is a great first stop. Even in july the air was cold - 11C - but the warm silica waters easily overcame the chilly air. A must-do while in iceland
