We visited as a group of friends in the evening and was very impressed with the whole experience. The customer service was good at all points where we encountered staff. The setting was incredibly surreal and seeing it in the light and dark was a great experience. Its also good that you can have a beer in the pool. Really enjoyable visit!

I think a large part of your perspective on the blue lagoon will depend on what package you purchased. We purchased the "premium" (mid level) package that included towels, slippers, robes, masks, and a couple of free drinks. We arrived for our reservation and there was no line for premium at all. We started with lunch in lava and enjoyed our free sparkling wine included as part of the package along with our food - the food was very good (yes, everything is expensive but it's on par with costs in Reykjavik restaurants).

We then went to the locker rooms to change and get into the pools. As some of the other reviews have mentioned the locker rooms were really quite chaotic. We didn't have that much trouble finding lockers though and once you figured out the locking system it was convenient to have it tied to your bracelet.

We spent several hours in the lagoon and ordered several drinks from the in pool bar. The scenery is beautiful. We also did our mud and algae masks which were nice but didn't really do that much for our skin. We very much enjoyed our time in the lagoon. In terms of temperature the pool is warm throughout but some sections near where they pump water in get much hotter, so you can move around the pool to find your ideal temperature. I did not find the water was so hot I felt like I had to get out frequently as I usually do with a hot tub.

I would avoid getting your hair wet with the lagoon water if possible and if you do make sure you wash it thoroughly. We left the conditioner from the showers in our hair as recommended and did not have lingering hair issues after shampooing and conditioning after leaving the pool.

All in all we really enjoyed our time here and would do it again. We spent about 1.5 hours at lunch and another 2.5 in the pool, with locker time we were at the blue lagoon for over 5 hours.

I was a little skeptical of this ”touristy” spot where you have to shower with strangers, but I was so WRONG-it was awesome! You do have to shower before and after-but you have your own stall (whew). You then go into nice warm water and get a mask and drink, then just relax and take in all of the beauty that surrounds you. Definitely a do not miss on your Iceland vacation. Food in cafe is expensive and really worth the price, but other than that.....Perfect.

We went at 4pm on a Saturday, the best time we could get the day we landed in Iceland. It was pretty busy but clean locker rooms and showers. We got the cheapest package and it came with a towel, access to locker, a face mask and a free drink - anything of the bar menu. The pool is huge with very warm water, ladies tie up your hair and leave the conditioner in like they tell you! My hair is baseline oily and it was dried out for 2 days after.
There was lots of space to swim around, the bar area was more busy and we had to wait in a line but not so bad. Very relaxing and a cool atmosphere as night arrives. You can stay as long as you'd like. The only downside is that there are a lot of people and everyone has white towels that are put on racks, and you can't keep track of which one is yours so we just took what seemed to be ours. I'd also recommend bringing flip-flops!
