Owner description: Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder. The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals. Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.

We went at 4pm on a Saturday, the best time we could get the day we landed in Iceland. It was pretty busy but clean locker rooms and showers. We got the cheapest package and it came with a towel, access to locker, a face mask and a free drink - anything of the bar menu. The pool is huge with very warm water, ladies tie up your hair and leave the conditioner in like they tell you! My hair is baseline oily and it was dried out for 2 days after.
There was lots of space to swim around, the bar area was more busy and we had to wait in a line but not so bad. Very relaxing and a cool atmosphere as night arrives. You can stay as long as you'd like. The only downside is that there are a lot of people and everyone has white towels that are put on racks, and you can't keep track of which one is yours so we just took what seemed to be ours. I'd also recommend bringing flip-flops!

While the weather wasn't great, the tour before the lagoon was very fun. They provided blue drinks and a history of the area. The lagoon itself is quite large with different places to hang out. There are some steam rooms as well and a nice gift shop. I would love to go back when the weather is more accommodating.

My girlfriend and I were booked in at 1900hrs on the 2nd April 2018. We arrived 15 mins early. When we actually got into the building we realised there were 2 queues. We had paid for luxury. This queue was packed out the door. We had waited 30 mins and hadn't moved much at all. We moved to the end of the first isle and noticed why the queue wasn't moving. Blue lagoon had 3 members of staff serving the tiny luxury queue and 1 member of staff serving the comfort queue. For a period of 15 minutes there was no one serving the comfort queue. Someone waiting in line asked why no one was serving our queue. They were told they were waiting for people to leave before letting more people in. Still letting people in from the luxury queue. We waited 1 hour to enter on that evening. Disgusting customer service. It's a shame companies like this will continue to take people's money as the blue lagoon is one of the musts when visiting iceland.

We were unfortunate on our visit to the Blue Lagoon as we had already visited some of the public pools in Reykjavik which have excellent, comfortable changing room facilities with large lockers to hang clothes. . we were also unfortunate that the day was extremely wet and windy so when we had to walk from the bus to reception we got very wet and then we had to roll up wet coats and trousers into a small locker which did not give them an opportunity to dry out -very uncomfortable for the bus journey back to the city afterwards.
I found the changing room crowded with no where to put my clothes when getting dressed and undressed. there were two hair dryers for approximately 50 people and as I have long hair I was not popular!
The pool itself was nice but the sense of chaos around the changing rooms caused a negative impression.
I would recommend that people visit the local public pools which cost approx 1.000Kr for two people.
