This place is just a minute off the main road from Gunnuhver hot springs to Grindavík and is well worth a stop if you are driving around the Reykjanes Peninsula. The Atlantic Ocean is so powerful at this spot and the rock formations are beautiful. If you stand at the edge, you will get splashed!

You pull into a small parking area and there’s is a set of stairs heading upward toward a platform. The pool is toward the left side straight ahead, but it is not safe to swim in it anymore or even walk to it as the waves crash up and over the rocks, it becomes quite slippery. The wondrous observation is that the pool water is perfectly still while the ocean is wild, almost giving it an optical illusion. I did notice several starfish in the small vernal pools on the right side just as you are heading towards the main platform area. Really a lovely place that should not be missed.

Excellent spot to stop and see the glorious crash of the Atlantic surf. There is parking, easy walkway to a look out area, all fenced in, so good for kids. There is an impressive large 'rock pool' and low but jagged lava rocks and low cliffs with pounding surf and great waves. Good for pics. We would try to go back around sunset!

We knew it would be a challenge to find. Luckily we came across 2 others searching for the waterfall, we found the waterfall after 15 mins. It’s breathtaking. My favorite waterfall!
