I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in a suite & everything was great. They have an airport shuttle, a good breakfast & location was good. The price I thought was decent as there is nothing cheap in Alaska. I was shocked at the prices in restaurants, nothing below $20.00. I paid $16.00 for a hamburger.

The hotel was decent enough in all respects, nothing to be alarmed or upset about. Good airport transfer service even after midnight, remember someone in s staying up doing this job. Breakfast room was a bit small but ok selection included.

Read some reviews of some cheaper hotels. We started here on a weeklong vacation per travel agent setup, but then on our last night back in Anchorage we did not have a hotel lined up, so after some searching for cheaper options, we found the Clarion to be averagely priced for comparable hotel chains, so we returned. The selling point was the shuttle service to/from train and to/from airport. Although for the second stay, we actually walked from the rain depot, about 20-25 minutes, which we broke up with a stop in the main part of downtown. The hotel is roughly 10 minute walk from that popular area around 4th and 5th Ave. The breakfast was not as good as other hot buffet breakfasts at chain hotels (e.g., Holiday Inn Express) but decent. As an example of this, there was just a single waffle maker and it did not have an auto timer.

Emotionally, I'd give this place one star, but I've stayed at worse hotels so I'll give it two in order to be fair. Suffice it to say I left more exhausted than when I checked in. The front staff were young and giddy - not professional - and they had to redo our reservation later because they messed it up on our initial check-in. The rooms appeared to be clean, but our toddler pulled a bed-bug trap out from under the bed. We spent the next bit trying to determine if there were any poisons. Thankfully, she was okay.
The room had unfinished spackling and dirty windows, and that was the good part. The beds were hard and the air conditioner was so loud that it made it impossible to get a restful sleep. Our toddler managed to fall asleep between cycles but she was startled awake and cried each time it kicked back on.
The breakfast area was so small that it had to have an overflow in a nearby conference room. The foods were poorly prepared but still ran out and were not refilled quickly. The toasters kept blowing a fuse and needed to be reset by an employee which took a long time. Only one of the waffle irons worked so there was a long line since people were making 2-4 at a time.
We thought we could save a few dollars by staying at these suites instead of some others that were slightly more expensive. Never again.

Room Tip: For the best room, go to Embassy Suites

Our stay didn't get off to the best start when we arrived at the train station, after a long journey, to find no hotel transfer which had been promised. There were at least a dozen people off the train transferring to this hotel so you'd think they would've been organised. When called, they said it would be a 30 minute wait for collection.......we took a cab!

Once checked in, it's fine, but no more than that. It's a bit of an anonymous, out of town hotel but large rooms and well appointed. There was no bar and a very basic breakfast, but they did provide transfer back to the airport in the morning.

Fine for a stopover, probably quite good for a business stay, but I wouldn't stay for long on holiday.
