The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and took pride in sharing it. He covered the history of the island, the mountain and also the telescope. Gave both sides of the story with respect to the current dispute on the telescopes. The lasagna and brownie were both very good and as expected going from sea level to 14,500 ft is a challenge but the view and the sunset were very special, especially with less people as COVID has reduced the number of tourists on the top of the mountain. We also enjoyed the star gazing with the telescope afterwards. A well worth tour.

Our tour guide Travis was a wealth of information! The road past the visitor's center is only open to 4 wheel drive vehicles and about a 10 hour round trip hike on foot so we chose this tour and we were very happy with it. The altitude is no joke and I felt light headed for a little bit despite the pause at the visitor's center for dinner and to acclimate. The weather wasn't too cold (snow on the ground but was around 32F) but as the sun set it got colder and we were thankful for the parkas. The stop to stargaze at the visitor's center was really fun and it was fun to listen to everyone's expressions as they stepped out of the van and looked up. That was the most stars I've ever seen in my life and you could very easily spot the Milky Way. It was a fun trip!

Getting to the top of Maunakea was on my husbands list as a high pointer. Hiking did not seem practical in the time we had so we opted for this wonderful trip to the top. Not only did we view a spectacular Sunset from the summit but also enjoyed two hours of stargazing through huge telescopes, at a more comfortable altitude where it was warmer and we could breathe better. The sky was crystal clear and we saw millions of stars we never see at home. The company also provided us with very warm parkas and gloves in addition to the warm clothes we wore, so we were very comfortable. Our guide Travis was very knowledgeable about Hawaiian culture history and politics and we learned a ton. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Going to the top of Mauna Kea was one of the highlights of my trip to Hawaii. I didn’t realize it was possible for someone to see so many stars! Travis was an amazing guide- very informative and also entertaining.

Our outstanding guide, Travis, did a great job of telling the history of the area, while at the same time he prioritized the comfort of his group. He is most knowledgeable about astronomy and Hawaiian mythology, and made the trip most enjoyable with his fun personality. This is a trip for your bucket list. We spent about two hours stargazing -well worth the money. The neighboring companies seemed to be in and out-going through the motions in one-third of the time. The passion of our guides resulted in an awesome experience. I highly recommend this trip with this outfit!
