This place is rad. Excellent beer selection, GREAT food, super friendly bartender. Oysters were fresh and delicious. If I lived here this would be my local haunt.

Cooter Brown’s remains my favorite place in the New Orleans area for oysters and beer. With a huge quantity of beer available, they move through it fast enough to keep it fresh. The oysters are always excellent. Order at the counter and open a single tab for Oysters, the bar and the kitchen.

Dining is self service in an open dining room. No reservations. No cocktail sauce here. Ketchup, horseradish, lemons and Tabasco and you blend your own.

Simply outstanding.

If you are looking for a shrimp po-boy, not your best bet. But that’s not why I go.

Crawfish served on the weekend when in season. They were a tad on the small side, but it was early March. They tasted excellent. Just the right amount of spice. Very well done.

My family and I recently stopped at Cooter Brown’s after a long day, drawn in by their extensive menu that promised an array of seafood options (it was Good Friday). We did not realize it was a 21+ year old only crowd. Yes, certainly for the bar, but the way this place is advertised, we never suspected anyone under 21 would not be allowed in at all, not even to eat. So many places in NOLA serve alcohol and food-and the menu on this place was so impressive! It was truly disappointing to have to turn away because they could not accommodate families-because the food gets great reviews.

stopped in here towards the end of the st Charles streetcar to buy time while waiting for Jacque imos to open. the place is dark but spacious with so many beer choices. you drinks at the bar and food in the kitchen but they will keep tab open for one check if interested. we split a catfish poor boy that was very tasty and adequate to share. we would return. 4 star for food and drink options...ambience a bit dark inside.

Went with family and had to have the kids wait at the tables outside while we ordered (21 and up bar) the food inside. But well worth it. Food was excellent. Best burgers, poboys, chicken tenders and cheese fries in town.
