Description: Tujague's Restaurant is the second oldest, continually running restaurant in New Orleans. Established in 1856, this French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years. The restaurant began its long history by serving the hungry port workers from the Mississippi riverfront. Lore states that brunch originated here, as did the Grasshopper cocktail. Homages to the restaurant's long and colorful history abound within the interior of the building from the classic 19th century architecture to memorabilia on the walls. The menu features locally sourced ingredients in traditional preparations, melding French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Tujague's famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too. If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local flare, Tujague's is your place.

Celebrated my 50th birthday at Tujague's back in mid-February. The staff at Tujague's did an amazing job of working with my wife and setting things up for our party of 13 people, even gave us a private room facing Decatur Street with a balcony. As we had a number of NOLA first timers with us this trip, the LOVED the view and the ambiance.

Now, on to the important stuff. The food was amazing!!! My personal favorite was the Shrimp Absinthe, I swear the sauce in that dish would make your flip-flop taste amazing. Also of note was the Creole Turtle soup, Oysters en Brochette, Crab au Gratin, and the Louisiana Lump Crab & Wild Mushroom Gnocchi appetizers. In regards to the main courses we (and our guests) loved the Gulf Puppy Drum Pontchartrain, Grilled Double Cut Pork Chop, Chicken Pontalba, and my personal favorite the Abita Amber BBQ Shrimp and Grits.

Our waiter, Dennis, was great as well. There is a reason why Tujague's is the second oldest restaurant in the Quarter, I highly recommend them!

We so look forward to eating here from reading some guy books and looking at local reviews. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were bothering the staff when we got seated at our table a server dropped off bread and we saw nobody for quite a while after that we didn't even have water to drink until the host saw that we had nothing and got drink orders from us. The food was good I wouldn't called award-winning but quite tasty with local Flair. However upon looking around the dining room and threw the restaurant it needed a good scrubbing

One of the few places in the quarter locals go regularly, that says a lot about any restaurant , especially among the very food conscious locals with so many fine dinning places available.There is a reason Tujagues has lastet so long!!

Supposedly the oldest operating restaurant in the city was our Sunday lunch spot. We dined late in the session yet the staff was still sharp and service oriented. The dining room is entered through the bar and the narrow entrance with kitchen and restrooms to the left is not attractive. The bar area is quaint with a down at the heels ambiance while the dining room is an attractive white on white theme with a decor of liquor miniatures in dusty frames just below the high ceiling.
We chose the shrimp and grits and the blue crab omelet both flavorful and properly prepared. The fresh bread from a German bakery was very good and served warm. Pre meal we enjoyed a spicy bloody Mary and a mimosa and with the meal had white and red Burgundy. Charbroiled oysters with cheese topping should have been great but one of six was overdone and burned. The oyster dish also is pretty spicy.

Great service and very good food. It's quite popular and the wait is fine with the bar downstairs. Don't eat too much of the awesome french bread!
