The hotel was in a good location, the staff were friendly, and our room was spacious. The room was a connecting room and this made the room very noisy and we could also smell our neighbor's cigarette and marijuana smoke thanks to the connecting door. The elevator makes a loud knocking sound every single time it moves. The balcony was a joke, as you had to lift an 80 lb window and crawl under it in order to access the balcony. Overall the room was clean enough, but the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 30 years, and the carpets were pretty old looking as well. We were really going for a non - chain, unique hotel, but we probably should have stuck with a more reliable chain for what we paid and what we got.

My wife and I booked the Dauphine based on their reviews and location to the quarter. When we checked in to our Premium Carriage House King we were assigned room 103. 103 is on the upper level so we had to walk up two flights of stairs but also work through a maze of pool chairs occupied by people. I didn’t mind the stairs but the maze got tiring fairly quickly. Our room was ok with the vaulted ceilings but the carpet seemed dirty and the room was musky. Also, based on the surrounding architecture and structure of the room it was VERY loud at night. We asked to move the following morning and were moved to 109 in a nice private little courtyard. That room was much better.

My two biggest issues with this hotel were as follows:

1) Breakfast is embarrassing and shameful. It’s literally awful and I wish they didn’t bother. Stale bagels only... nothing else. And it’s a rat race trying to use the one and only toaster. No muffins, no waffles, just bagels. They mentioned something along the lines of that they didn’t receive their pastry order, not sure about that since we were there for an entire week.

2) Their historic and famous May Bailey’s bar had been closed since August 2017. There was no construction going on while we were there and according to inside sources there’s no anticipated reopening date. So now the bar is operated from the breakfast room and run out of coolers and a folding table. So tacky. That being said, the bartender Olga was super nice and professional.

Overall the rest of the staff seemed not to care much about anything. Everything seems to be done to the bare minimum but that was pretty typical throughout our trip.

The things that I liked... wifi was free and fast. We could stream movies which was nice. Location is decent but it’s close to Bourbon so you will hear horns and shouting all night. If the price is lower than most other places then it might be fair value. Parking was $40/night if you need it. No USB outlets so don’t forget your chargers.

The hotel was what was expected, no surprises +. The location of the hotel is one of its key attributes+. One block off Bourbon. We stayed overlooking the courtyard so heard very little at night, but expected to hear more+. Staff were very professional and friendly at all times+. Non-smoking hotel with no amenities for smokers-. A bench outside for smokers would have been good. All requests or asks made of any staff were immediately resolved+ Bed was very comfortable+ Room was above average size+Clean+. Shower head at chest level-Toilet very small- (i'm tall) but worked well+May Bailey's closed since Aug 2017 with no information on when it will open-. Overall, above average stay, would stay again.

Room Tip: 211 was a good room

nice. noisy at night. could use a larger room & larger dressing area. would like to go back when the bar renovation is complete. Also, rooms could use some fluff. very comfortable mattress! good location & a very helpful pleasant staff.
