Visited Tikona Fort with family. What a beautiful place and great adventure for young kids.

- 70kms from Pune. 2 hours drive.
- Roads are good if you drive via Dehu Road and Kamshet.
- Car parking available at the base
- Top most point is at 3580ft/1091mtrs from the sea level and it takes roughly 1 hour to reach the top.
- Some parts are almost vertical at 90° climb and it's fun.
- The view from the top is just breathtaking.

It’s an easy trek very near to Pune. While much has been said about the track and the fort, here are some practical tips:
- park at the main entrance if you have four wheeler, it’s a narrow road inside and results a deadlock while returning
- very few options for food, so carry something with you
- being easily accessible it’s often crowded. Be responsible and follow basic rules to give way to people
- be careful at the steep stairs at the top

Thanks to local government for installing the concrete blocks at the slushy starting trail

Tikona fort is an easy trek location near kamshet district and is accurately located in google maps. It has an elevation of 3500 feet above sea level. Tikona peth is the base village of the fort. There are refreshments like corn, mineral water and nimbu pani available through out the trek. Base village has places for quick meals. Vehicle parking is available at fort base for free. The route between kamshet and tikona peth is as Kamshet-pawananagar-Tikona peth

How to get there:
1.Reaching kamshet: If travelling by train then one must alight at kamshet railway station by getting to lonavala and then boarding local train to kamshet or directly by a passenger.
2. Finding a taxi or bus: The locals can guide you to the place where you can rent taxi. A whole taxi (max 12 people)can be rented which will drop you by fort base(not to mix this up w/ base village) but costs anywhere between 600-1000.
Sharing taxi's till pawananagar are available for 20₹ per seat, but are extremely uncomfortable. Further pawananagar no sharing taxis are available, you need to rent one for 300₹.
MSRTC bus frequency is 1 hr. Rent is 20 till pawananagar and less than 40 for tikona peth.
REMEMBER THERE IS NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT AVAILABLE FROM TIKONA PETH BACK TO KAMSHET EXCEPT MSRTC BUSES (frequency unknown).

if travelling by any vehicle then use location on google maps, it's accurate.

Trek difficulty:
Tikona being an easy trek location is perfect for beginners. People may face problem when climbing the end part which are very steep steps but cable is provided for support.

Tips:
1. When returning back you must reach pawananagar to get a bus as taxis are closed after 4.
2. Carry plenty of water.
3. Have some carbs before trek.
4. The view from top is marvellous with lush green mountains and mesmerising clouds.

Visited Tikona fort over the weekend, took old Pune-mumbai highway (NH4) route- Kamshet- Tikona Peth. Roads weren't bad barring a few small ditches that needs to traversed carefully. With the outset of monsoon weather and surroundings around there were really beautiful, misty and lush green. The trek was fairly easy, I saw many kids hiking up all alone. However, the climb up the fort stairs is risky, the incline is almost 90 degrees and when it rains these steps have water flowing from above, some steps are half broken, there is a wire tied as rope which is your only hope in case you slip. One needs to be very careful here. The view from the top and while descending is breathtaking, it totally worth it.

This is one of the best Trecking spot I have seen in my Journey. We friends started from Mumbai and Reached to Pavana lake resort on Weekend and took rest for the day. Saturday Morning we had breakfast at Resort and started Journey towards Tikona. IT is approx. 10 Km from Pavana Lake other side.

We started trecking from Base @ 10:00 am and reached top by 11:30 and had darshan of Shiv Ji in top hill temple. Returned to Base after 15 min time spend on top of the hill and reached down by 01:00 pm.
Best part of this trek is
1. Each and every spot there are sign Boards and history details. See attached photos for the same.
2. There is one feedback book kept with Hill Temple Person and they are asking to give fare feedback. I have never seen such feed back at any other trecking spots.
3. Very good bird view of Pavana Lake from top of the hill.

Being Short and easy trek place it is better for beginners.
