Poor service

Review of Wythe Hotel
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 22, 2024
Loud music from venues such as weddings, well past midnight. Requested noise issue be addressed and it was not. Needed several reminders. Eventually at 1Am it stopped. No place for clothes except a few hangers. Fridge full of over priced items so little room for own stuff. Housekeeping awful. Asked desk as I left for 4 hours to clean room, was not done.

I live in the neighborhood for 13 years and Le Crocodile has been my go to morning breakfast spot since they opened and have had lovely service from the restaurant staff and the doormen; however, a new manager I do not know (Gabby) banned me, a disabled American veteran and Ukraine war veteran, for unknown reasons that reeks of discrimination based on my skin color or identity. She would not speak to me and would not let me pay my bill for two drinks which is normally never been a problem. Really disappointed and will no longer recommend this establishment occupying my neighborhood.

Interesting hotel. Industrial chic. We paid extra for a view room and the view of Manhattan is impressive. The bed was comfortable. The facility was clean. The restaurant is very good but pricey. The rooftop bar is cool.
On the downside, the room furnishings were quite spartan. The room was not warm or welcoming. There were no drawers in the room. None! Not in the side tables, not in the bathroom, not in the closet. No dresser. I called the front desk and they said use the closet. So we could hang stuff up but otherwise had to live out of our suitcases. So this is trendy? In a pricey hotel?
There is a large window between the bathroom and the bedroom. It’s supposed to be a one way reflective window but whichever side has the light on is the side you can see into. Whose idea was that?
The TV was kind of small attached to the far wall.
As far as noise is concerned, one night had noisy band music coming from somewhere til midnight. The other two nights were okay..
No business center. If you need to print something (like boarding passes or itinerary) tough luck. I needed to print something and the woman at the front desk asked me to text it to her and she would print it. She was very nice about it but it didn’t work.
In summary, the hotel is sort of a work of art, but not particularly comfortable or convenient. It has some nice amenities, but overall not the best for the price.

I had a wonderful solo one-night stay here in June 2024.
The front door and reception desk were friendly, helpful and welcoming when I arrived around 10:30 p.m. They suggested I visit the rooftop bar on the sixth floor before it closed at midnight.
My room, 509, was very clean and well-appointed with lots of fun and unique touches such as the local art, the way the coffee bar and snacks were displayed. The is a neat one way mirror providing natural light to the shower and bathroom but you cannot see into the shower from the bed side of the room.
Grace was also very hospitable and helpful at checkout offering to store my luggage. The gentleman at the front door graciously gave me instructions to the park and waterfront from the front door.
I also had a fantastic breakfast experience with such delicious food in just the right portions. Definitely dine here and get the bed and breakfast package, if you can.

Many staff are very pleasant. Our experience has been less than ideal. The hotel is in an excellent location to explore Williamsburg. It is clean with a lovely, bright decor. Hot water is spot on. Comfortable bed.

The not great: if you stay on the 8th floor you may be kept up by the clanging of the elevator. When we inquired, front desk said "Yeah. It's an old elevator." They offered us a room on the 7th floor. The noise was still present but not as loud. Unfortunately, a water bottle we got at the Yankees home opener was left in our old room when we had to change. Front desk said they would investigate but did not contact us. Given the price point, such a lack of service is disappointing. If your stay has no hiccups it will go well. But if you have an issue, do not expect a prompt and professional resolution. The best staff person who offered help was the head of housekeeping (did not catch her name). She said she would followup. No other staff cared. We care, though. That water bottle obviously wasn't a computer or a passport. But it meant a lot to us.

Room tip: Do not stay on the 8th floor if you are at all sensitive to noise.

The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Our room on the 2nd.floor had a large balcony. Like many modern hotels, there's a window between the bathroom and main room. Unlike many, it's strategically placed to give you privacy. While the room was large with very high ceiling, there was minimal storage and hanging space, making this a great place for a short stay. I didn't realize I had left an expensive piece of jewelry in the room. Luckily, the hotel contacted me and I was able to retrieve it. 5 stars for honesty! In the bathroom they had The Davines Dede Shampoo and Conditioner which is very good for color treated hair. It's very gentle. They also provided robes, but no slippers.

Room tip: If you want to be in Williamsburg, this is a good choice
