On our second trip to Savannah we wanted a hotel not in downtowns, but near a couple of out-of-town sites we planned to visit (Pin Point Heritage Museum and Wormsloe State Historic Site). This was perfect. Courtyard Marriotts are a cut above the basic road warrior hotel, and this one was very nice. More pricey than, say, a Hampton Inn ($265 per night), but worth it for the well appointed room, including, importantly, the toilet and shower separated from the sink/vanity. And there is a Starbucks in the lobby! A little too cool for swimming, but there is a pool, and a lovely courtyard. One complaint: the microwave in our room (#133) did not work.

The pictures and the lobby area make this hotel seem modern, but that's simply not the case. The rooms are reasonably clean, but everything is so dated. The fact that everything is so old makes me concerned about the cleanliness. The rooms aren't inviting - they're dark, and a little musty with low popcorn ceilings. The bathroom looks like a hospital bathroom. Little considerations like hooks on the wall for towels are completely neglected. The hairdryer - pretty sure I had the same semi-functional one in 1990. Be advised that they allow pets at the hotel (which meant that I had a dog in the room next to mine howling for hours). The room does the job, but it's not particularly relaxing or inviting.
