We booked this as a very last minute trip for my birthday. On a trip a few years ago we'd stayed at the Hyatt Regency, which is a very nice hotel and a great location, but it was well over $300/night which was just ridiculous. So we booked here for A LOT less money and just as great of a location.
All the staff we encountered was friendly. The lady at the Concierge Desk always greeted people as they entered and left the lobby (we didn't need her services but she was very friendly).
We had a King room on the 4th floor with a view of the alley (where the cars pulled in for valet parking). We didn't care about the view so it didn't matter to us. I've seen some reviews of people complaining about traffic noise - I did hear some traffic during the day and at night but nothing terribly disturbing.
The rooftop pool was nice - nothing extravagant but simple and clean - but a small area. It had only a few people the few times we went so it wasn't a big deal but I could see it being annoying if there were a lot of people there. There was a nice shaded area on the roof with some couches that was nice to relax (again, not much room but if you're lucky you could have the area to yourself) and enjoy the ambiance....We booked this as a very last minute trip for my birthday. And you could stand and see a nice view of the area from the roof.
Breakfast was a buffet and had a good variety - differently prepared eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuits, an offering of yogurts, muffins and bagels. They had some dry cereals for kids (or sweet lovers) and oatmeal. And an offering of milks and juices as well as coffee. My only wish was that there were more options for fruit - it was just bananas (and they weren't good) or apples. Beyond the bananas, everything else tasted very good.
The location is a short walk to River Street and a very short walk to various other locations. It's about a 10 minute walk from the City Market. So it is a great location in the historic district.
The valet parking was great. You can request your car before going down and it was waiting for us when we got there (and it was a busy Sunday morning).
One great tip - they offer Leonardo's Ice cream!!! It's $6 for a tiny container but it's a great way to sample from this tourist attraction without waiting in a long line (we walked by it twice and there was a line at least 20 people outside).
I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.More
