My wife and I decided to book a room at
Rachel"s Dowry for our 20th Anniversary because we wanted to spend some time roaming Inner Harbor and eat in Little Italy since it was close to everything. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! Rachel's Dowry is a wonderful place to stay if you are a couple looking to get away, even for a day. It's both beautiful and charming and the owner Linda is such a gracious host and a hell of a cook. Her snicker doodle cookies are fantastic but her lemon scones are literally to die for. And this comes from someone who doesn't eat scones. The rooms are very quaint an comfortable and I loved the sheets so much I asked my wife to find out what type they were because I wanted them for myself. Lol!

I really can't say enough about Rache's Dowry. It was one of the most relaxing placesI have every stayed. And I'm looking forward to the next time my wife and I go back.

PS. Rachel is a hell of a conversationalist as wel. She's the best.

I'm glad you chose to spend your anniversary with us - and really enjoyed our conversations, too! Thank you so much for your kind words, and don't wait another year to come see me again!
All the best,

Our time at Rachael’s Dowry B & B was wonderful. The staff was great and very helpful. There is so much history in the house. The food was enjoyable. And it was a two block walk to Camden Yards Field and around the corner from the Babe Ruth museum. We had no expectations for Baltimore, but were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful harbor and Camden Yards Field.

Thank you so much for rating us so well, and your kind words! I agree - I was pleasantly surprised by Baltimore, too. After living all around the world, I have to say this has become one of my favorite cities. A hidden gem! See you soon, I hope!

Currently interviewing for positions at various medical centers so I have been selecting places to stay based on proximity to where my interview is. This was a great location for my U Maryland interview. I wanted something very unique and also to support a female business owner. In any case, I was really delighted with my stay:

Pros: Very close to University of Maryland; great quiet setting for reading; unique atmosphere; very large bed and neat room; fantastic breakfast- one of the best pancakes recipes I have had in my travels; fabulous, kind host

Cons: Lots of stairs. I stayed on the 4th floor and arrived very late. I had to let myself in which was fine, but the stairs were hard with luggage and being alone. Ask to be on a lower floor if you need help and have trouble lifting things. Also, the heating system was not intuitive, but I figured it out by the second evening.

Overall: Wonderfu! Stay. I enjoyed my time here a lot. I wasn’t worried about the surroundings and was walking around a bit after dark by myself without a problem. I am a 30 something female, and it didn’t feel any less safe than Denver or NYC. I wouldn’t go out super late, but Uber worked fantastic for me. I ended up extending my reservation and stayed an entire week there. I’d recommend it. It’s not good if you want breakfast earlier than 7am, but I had a few days where I had time to have a leisurely breakfast and enjoyed it a lot!

Room tip: Choose a lower floor if you need help with luggage or will arrive late and alone.

Thanks so much for your kind words - and it was fun having you here. There ARE a lot of stairs here - sorry I wasn't able to help you on your arrival. Also glad you figured out the heating system - it's usually part of my orientation tour. Location is perfect here, though, for the University, and I hope we get to see you again (on a lower floor, of course!).

Well, where should I begin. My husband and I planned a last minute trip to Baltimore to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary and did we ever hit the jackpot!!!! What an adventure at one of the city's hidden treasures. Linda provided all the directions to and from this awesome B & B while we enjoyed our weekend celebration. This historic venue is extraordinarily well kept, very clean, and trust me.... the best and most peaceful, private sleep of your life. Linda makes the best breakfast from scratch and discuss the history of the house to the T while you get hypnotized by the taste and authenticity of her cooking and creativity . If you're an avid reader, there is also a small library with a wonderful selection of nonfiction books as you enter. We will certainly visit this fantastic B & B again in the very near future. If you plan to visit Baltimore or the surrounding area, you must spend a couple nights at Rachael's Dowry Bed and Breakfast..... Just beautiful....

Room tip: Higher Floors are preferable

My wife and I planned a "day away" and are so thankful that we chose Rachael's Dowry! Our stay could not have been more perfect. The inn was amazing. It's location is perfect - close to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, but far enough away to feel secluded. The accommodations were elegant - the bed was such a pleasure to sleep in, it was hard to make it downstairs in the morning for the most fantastic rendition of eggs Benedict I've ever had! Homemade English muffins! The inn keeper has fabulous stories to tell about the history of the inn, and is such a pleasant woman to talk to, she made us feel at home instantly. If you are ever in Baltimore, this is the place you will want to stay....I wish we had booked more than a quick night out! We will be back...

Glad to hear you'll be back because you're right - one night was too short! With so much live theater, great chefs and free museums, you'll be able to spend weeks in Baltimore without repeating yourself! See you soon, I hope!
