Wanted to be in the Times Square area as my younger daughter had not been to NYC yet. Paid a lot of money for a premium room overlooking Times Square. View didn’t disappoint but the room was quite dated, didn’t get any discount for that though. I understand the higher level rooms are being renovated but was told it was very noisy up there. Overall the hotel staff was friendly and the views from the restaurant and lounges were excellent. Breakfast buffet is very good! The family enjoyed our stay here so mission accomplished!

Dear Vince W,

We appreciate you taking the time to share about your stay. We are delighted your family enjoyed themselves while with us, however, we regret that we were not able to give you a room on a higher level due to the noise. We agree there are areas that are showing their age and while we know the frustrations that can come with a remodel we are excited for our guests to see our newly redesigned rooms once our modernization is finished.

We certainly hope you will give us another chance once our project is complete so your daughter can experience our wonderful city as she should have on this visit.

I attended a conference at this hotel, which would be the only reason I would stay here.

Good:
Location- if you want to be in Time Square
Staff- all were friendly and polite

Bad:
Oh, where to begin.....
Wifi- terrible. I had to keep reconnecting my phone. On the 5th floor meeting space I could not send or receive emails even with cell data turned on
Room- was pretty spacious by New York standards, but all else lacking
Pillows are awful. All hard and feel like they are stuffed with tennis balls
No bottled water
No fridge or mini bar
No make up mirror
No robe
Skimpy amenities- shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bar soap-that's it
Coffee maker, but no real cream, just the powered stuff. Gross. Was forced to drink tea, but the housekeeper didn't replenish it
Bathtub is yellowed and chipped. I do not believe this hotel is "newly renovated" as they claim
Room service- almost non-existent. I ordered a cheeseburger. It came in a bag like take out in a cardboard box. No fries or salad, no tray or plate. No cover to keep it warm. I had a soggy room temperature burger for $27. I guess all the big Marriotts are doing this now.

Disclaimer- they do have a concierge club, but I was too busy with the conference to visit it, so can't comment on that. Also did not have time for the gym, but it looked pretty big. I would only stay here if you are attending a meeting here and want convenience.

I’ve stayed here a few times and not much has changed, not a bd thing!
Ramsey the barman is still there after 34yrs. Good banter and great service in the main bar. Rooms are ok and clean, I do feel an overall refurbishment needs to be coming soon.

I want to recognize Maria from the Philippines at the lobby bar for amazing service. We got to the hotel on Thursday late and was starving. We went to the lobby bar but the kitchen was closed. Maria saw how tired and down we were she went to ask the kitchen if she could get some food for us. We were able to order chicken wings and fries (which was really good) and she made our whole trip. We get comparing service everywhere we went to Maria. This is service and making someone experience brilliant!

Our experience (our family came here to celebrate my Birthday) was superior in terms of service. The car was attended to immediately in spite of the fact it was a busy Saturday in NYC. The attendant was friendly and funny as was the person taking our suitcases to the lobby. The line at the front desk was long but moved exceedingly quickly as when we arrived at our rooms on the 27th floor everything was ready for us.
The elevators are some of the fastest I have ever been in. They are also controlled through a system where you walk up to a panel and key in your room number and the system will pick the elevator (there are many) that you should wait at as that will be the fastest one to get to where you are going. Very Cool. The rooms were very clean and nicely arranged but no fridge. A quick call and we had one delivered within 10 minutes! Each room had a large TV, very low toilets, and a somewhat limited view over TS. Beds were comfy and the bathroom's had marble vanities and were spacious.
I had expected a bit more luxurious look for the price but hey, it's NYC. Also called front desk to get a late checkout next day - no problem. Went back down to the Broadway Lounge and Terrace for a welcome drink and met "Vinny" the bartender. Again, an example of their superior service and attention to guests, Vinny was very attentive and humorous and made our first night memorable even though we were there only a 1/2 hour.
The hotel is close to many restaurants as well as Rockefeller Center, Radio City, even Central Park. Obviously being almost in the center of Times Square provides easy walks to stores, novelty shops, and many, many street vendors.
But what made it special for us was that even upon retrieving our car as we were going home, the guys on the parking reception area remembered us and call out our names. Impressive. As I said impeccable and friendly service.

Room tip: Ask for rooms front-facing Broadway
