Pathetic. Just Pathetic.

The only reason I stayed at this dump was because there was a winter storm, and I needed to be as close as possible to my business meeting the next morning. It is dilapidated--think 60 year old public housing project dilapidated. Even the free bananas in the lobby were nearly black. Honestly, I'm not sure how it is that they haven't been defrocked of their Aloft brand by Marriott Corporate as it is a serious stain on the brand.

It is not, however, unclean, and I saw no signs of vermin or trash or other waste. The bed was fine, as were the linens, and the water pressure. The staff were friendly, too.

Bottom line, no matter how bad the snowstorm, or how convenient to any location, unless and until it is renovated, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again unless I lost a bet.

Subject: Cautionary Incident at ALoft Hotel

Dear Manager/Concerned Party,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a recent incident I encountered during my check-in at the ALoft hotel on February 1st at 10:30 pm.

While checking in, I had an unfortunate experience of being double-charged on purpose by the front desk associate. This individual, a girl with black hair, seemed intent on making it appear as if my card transactions were fraudulent. I am deeply concerned and disappointed by this behavior, as it is questionable and unprofessional.

Attached along with this email, you will find evidence that supports my allegation. As an individual working in the hotel industry myself, this incident has left me with an unpleasant impression and has raised questions about the integrity of your establishment.

I kindly request that you look into this matter promptly and address it with the utmost seriousness it deserves. The unauthorized double charging and the apparent attempt to decline my check-in without a valid reason is not only an inconvenience for me but also reflects poorly on the reputation of your hotel.

I trust that the necessary action will be taken to address this issue appropriately and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future, preserving the trust and confidence of your valued guests. I would appreciate a response from you, acknowledging the situation and any corrective measures taken.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Yours sincerely,
Allen Johnson

Hi Mr. Allen,

I am very sorry for the inconveniences you faced during your check in with your third-party reservation. The property did not receive payment from the third-party booking engine, and you choose to check in using your CC. This should have not been the case and you should have been able to check in using the reservation you pre booked and pre-paid for. I have reached out to the OTA, and they were able to verify that they do have your funds and will be processing a refund. Please allow 3-5 business days for this to reflect in your account. If there are any issues you may reach out directly to me to assist in resolving this in a timely manner.
I hope we can welcome you again soon when we can exceed your expectation.
Safe travels!

The hotel is in a decent location. The people that work there are very nice however, it is in desperate need of repair and upgrades in several areas.

See the photos for backup and proof.

The fitness center is tiny.

The toilet was running all night

The worst customer service I have EVER received. Hotel staff could not have been more rude, more dismissive or more uncaring. I have called and emailed multiple times and got a different answer each time. Would rather stay in a box than stay here. Awful terrible diabolical!

Avoid until refurbished! It’s clear this hotel is due a refit and they are waiting for the road works to be completed to do so as the gym and other facilities are closed as is the road the hotel is situated in! I’m amazed Marriott are marketing this hotel, photos are misleading as the wallpaper is practically peeling off the walls, mattresses are in conforta le, window won’t close properly so noisy as is the antiquated aircon, can’t change rooms as full!

I really feel mislead and am asking to be moved to a different hotel!

Room tip: Avoid this hotel until refurbished!

Add me to the list of people affected by the closure. Was due to arrive July 1, and only found out they were closed, when I tried to call the hotel directly on June 29 to ask a question. Got their voicemail saying they are closed due to garage collapse, and left a message. No email, no phone call from Aloft or Marriott about closure, or notification that my reservation was canceled by Aloft or Marriott on June 27.

I then proceeded to call the Toll Free Bonvoy Guest Services number.

Call 1, placed on hold for 15 minutes when it was promised that the agent would verify hotel was still closed, then call was disconnected.

Called toll free number back immediately, asked for a manager, who also promised to look into it while on hold, disconnected again.

On the third try, I spoke with an agent who was sympathetic and able to help me connect with a supervisor indeed confirmed the property is still closed, and opened a investigation ticket regarding this sequence of events. On this call, they also told me that my reservation had been cancelled on June 27 for my arrival on July 1. Again, no email received.

To be fair, the situation of the garage is beyond their control. But the lack of communication or notice is horrendous and totally under Aloft & Marriott’s control. Waiting until June 27 to cancel the room, with no offer to rebook at time of cancellation, shows a lack of concern, and shows zero hospitality. It is callous to the fact that some people have made plans months in advance, booked travel and event tickets, and secured paid time off. JW Marriott himself would be shocked!

Room tip: Call ahead to ensure hotel is open/check for mitigating situations that could effect stay
