I called the Hotel on the day of a reservation in order to cancel the first night because my plane had technical issues. I called on time per Platinum Elite rules. Although the hotel stated on the phone that the 1st night had been cancelled, then did not do it and kept my Marriott points. It's obvious that this is a local hotel policy, not Marriott's. I would avoid this hotel for this reason. The cancellation call can be seen on my phone records, yet Marriott and the hotel state that since since they did not send the cancellation notice, they will not reimburse the points to my account. Very disappointing after so many years as a loyal Marriott customer.
