I live in Battery Park city, one neighborhood over and finally discovered one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
All the ingredients from the bread, meat, cheese and spreads are the freshest you can get.
There's just nothing wrong with these panini's, absolutely perfect.
They are huge though (think long baguette size), so enough for two meals, or one if you're sharing.
Definitely, definitely check them out if your're visiting the area, or just live/work here.

So the previous review stated cash only? Yes, that is correct it's cash only. So if you do your research before visiting then one would know that you need to bring cash. So, what do you get? Well authentic no kidding prosciutto ham, the most delectable mozzarella cheese, roasted peppers, dressing all on ciabatta bread. My wife and I shared the sandwich which was big enough for two. Seating is very limited, like so limited that six people can sit at tables, but one doesn't come to Pisillo's to sit, it's to sample excellent Italian cuisine at it's best. They speak Italian, and on our visit I would say 90% of the people who came in for sandwiches, were, yep Italian. So if you really want a great sandwich the visit Pisillo's. Oh, and bring cash. Incidentally, the have an ATM machine inside the shop too.

Had lunch here. I had the Roma which was awesome. They have about 20 different sandwiches to chose from. And you can add extra stuff or hold certain items. The sandwich was easily 12 inches long. Not real big place if no tables you can eat at their bakery next door. This is a great hole in the wall type place. I think it was cash only. I would here here again for sure!

The food looked great and we were eager to try it. I ordered 2 paninis but then the guy said they accept only cash... I thought it was a joke... Seriously?? We are in 2017 not in 1970... You're one of the highest rated restaurant in NY and you can seriously not afford a credit card machine ??
Go away and find another place!

It's a small place in the financial district. You can pay only cash and there are 5-6 high bar tables. But the majority of people orders take out. I kind of like the fact that it's an old style Italian "salumeria". Everything they use is original Italian fresh cut product and bread is also good. We went for a coffee in the shop next to that it's from the same owners. Good espresso and nice guys.
