My experience at Blue Hill was a good one. I highly enjoyed the atmosphere, it has this great mood lighting going on that makes it the perfect place to take someone on a date. I originally saw the restaurant on a special on Netflix, and while I was in New York I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. The food was amazing, and you could tell they use fresh products. While it was a bit pricey, it was well worth the cost. The presentation of the food is very professional, and you feel like you're dining at a place that you'd see featured on a television show. Tip: make reservations! This place stays very busy! The seating is kind of cramped, so if you're on a date, you have to kind of keep your voice down. The waiting staff was very friendly, and the manager even came out to our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal.

This was my second visit within two years and I already loved it the first time ... this time was even better , great amuse bouches and then a fabulous 5 course menu accompanied with lovely wines ... fully booked and busy ... the owner and chef also being "on site" ... simply a wonderful treat!

Went with dear friends to celebrate anniversaries on a short New York weekend getaway. Have been a fan of Dan Barber's since reading his book and have dreamed of coming here. Food, service, atmosphere, and wine were all incredible. Cannot wait to return.

I really wanted to like this place, as I do love the philosophy of Dan Barber, but I cannot say I will remember any of the courses we got very well. We chose the Farmers feast menu, which was good, but nothing memorable, as one might expect from one of the better restaurants in New York. Given the local sourcing of food and focus on vegetables, maybe April is not the month to visit the restaurant, and summer or autumn might be better choices? As my wife did not drink alcohol, I asked for 3 glasses of wine to match the menu. The wines were good, but just an OK match with the food. The choice of non-alcoholic beverage was quite limited, more high end restaurants should learn from Maaemo in Oslo, which offers a juice pairing in addition to the regular wine pairing.

In Greenwich Village you step down 3 steps and then you enter this “speakeasy” place. While this was opened around 2000 the Bule Hill at Stone Barns (45 min drive from Manhattan) came up 2006.
Having made reservations early the friendly and skilled service showed us a nice ound table – good for the 5 of us. While we sipped our well prepared local drinks (cocktails – and you can choose between 30+ bitters for spicing them up) we checked the menu options: Farmer’s Feast (featuring the market products of the day in 6 courses, $98) or the daily menu (more options within the courses (4), $88).
We went for the smaller one (with more choices from veggie to meat) and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Napa, followed for the main by nice Cab from Sonoma.
The food (like Beets and Pistachios or Muraski Sweet Potato for the first course, Egg in a Pan or Potato Pizza (covered with kale, broccoli and Cheddar cheese) was a delight – although the portions are pretty small – considering the appetite of the “hungry” Manhattan crowd.
The main was a good choice as long as you stayed with the Lamb or Venison. The vegetarian option was a little bit like a joke: chicken fried carrot steak which turned out as 3 long small sticks of carrots (joined by some potatoes and beet ketchup).
The closing remarks came as Eight Row Flint Corn (corn cream, pickled blueberries and popcorn ice cream) – we liked that.

We left the Hill with an impression of sophisticated dishes prepared skillfully with pretty fresh local ingredients. The ambiance (55 seats) is almost private, the service hosted us in a friendly and helpful way.
