I took my Italian friends out for dinner to the Spring street location. We didn't have a reservation but luckily we got a table for the five of us. We shared appetizers such as the arancini, burrata cheese and the grilled octopus salad and then we had pasta dishes. They were all fantastic, served in pans:) Wines were great as well. The atmosphere was excellent with super friendly and professional stuff. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back again!

It's hard to describe how wonderful this little Italian cucina in Soho is; we had the most wonderful evening imaginable. Staring with our arrival (15 mins late, our concierge rang ahead to say we'd been delayed) into the most delightful, small, familial space, we felt like we'd been invited into a friends home. The table service was so friendly without being overbearing. We ordered the steak tartare, tuna tartare, prosciutto and mozzarella for starters, followed by ragu penne, spinach and ricotta ravioli, eggplant spaghetti and the ravioli. We followed up with creme brûlée, canalloni and chocolate cake. The wine list was brilliant. Everyone was brilliant with dietary requirements. The wonderful thing was, as the night unfolded, we all knew we were in a very special moment; and that made it all the more memorable.

I booked this place based on the recommendations on Trip Advisor. We arrived at Piccola and my "princess" friend was extremely negative. This is a small storefront in a really cool location. It was a warm evening and we had walked to the restaurant. We were hot. She immediately stated that it was so small and hot in there that there was no way she would be able to enjoy it. I wasn't having it, we had to give it a chance, plus the greeter/host/whatever Misha was absolutely charming and welcoming. He brought us water and even though he wasn't supposed to have 3 chairs at his outside table he let us sit down and brought us some wine. He also let us taste the wine until we found the one we liked best. He told us our table would be ready shortly and he was spot on. We sat down and could feel the cool air in the restaurant even though we were less than 10 feet from the open kitchen. We ordered arancini first and although delicious, it wasn't hot. We didn't say anything at first, until asked. The waiter seemed surprised, but not overly upset. Dinner was delicious, their bread fresh and sauces excellent. My friends had ravioli, i had spaghetti with red sauce and their appetizer meatballs (which were mini). The chef agreed to make this especially for me and was just delightful watching us as we ate -- he even took a picture for us. After dinner they brought us a fresh, hot plate of arancini and it was so nice. We shared one, but had to bring the rest home. We had such a nice experience because of the people working there, the food was very good too and great presentation.

What a fantastic spot to have a light lunch and watch the world pass by. This intimate Italian cafe is lovely and the staff make the experience even better. You are made welcome but never harassed to move on.
Food is delicious for a couple where fish and seafood is off the menu (allergies) it's no problem. The Burrata starter is amazing!

We heard about this place while were in Sicily recently...so we kept it in mind and went into Manhattan last nigh to try it out. It is tiny, noisy and fun.The waiters are really great. The food is pretty good, not great, but does not warrant the prices. They play fun loud Italian music and everyone joins in singing, so it is a great experience, but the food did not live up to our expectations. The best thing was an appetizer eggplant revisited...some Italian bread with a spread of pureed eggplant, basil and tomato, with some cheese..the basil part was the best. For dinner we had pasta dishes...I had Pasta Norma, a traditional Sicilian eggplant and pasta dish...ok, but not great...as I had hoped it would be. The deserts were...again...ok, but way overpriced. For 4 people the bill with tax was $248.00 included were 5 glasses of wine we did tip $52 because the waiters were good and fun....$248.00 is not really that bad for Manhattan, but for pasta dishes it is just too steep. If you want some fun and are willing to pay, I would recommend it however, as there are other places that would not cost quite this much for a better selection and better prepared meals I would choose some place else for my next Italian experience before going back here
