This restaurant was highly recommended to us and we agree! Firstly the ambiance is lovely. The acoustics are such that you can actually have a quiet conversation. I loved the art and especially the clay jugs on the ceiling. But of course the food is the real reason to come. We started with the delicious Avgolemono soup, and each of us had the whole fish, lamb chops and Moussaka, all excellently prepared. The chocolate mousse to end the meal was divine. Service was impressive.

One of my favorite NYC Greek restaurants. Make a reservation or you will not get a table. We had avgolemonia soup (excellent), pazaria (beets), kolokuthia and melanzana tykanites (fried zucchini and eggplant) and haloumi sautéed in raki with grapes (unbelievable) with wine, saving room for excellent galaktobouriko.

Four of us had appetizers, mains and shared a dessert and two bottles of wine last night. Everything was excellent. Herring, octopus and bean/tsatziki and taramasalata were all fresh and tasty and beautifully presented. Two of us had the lamb shank, one the lamb chops, and one the branzino. Delicious all! The waitress recommended a new wine that was not yet on the menu, a cabernet blend, that we all enjoyed. Service was friendly and careful.

After reading all the great reviews, we decided to try the place. First----be prepared to be sandwiched in between a row of VERY close tables-----you have to move the table to get to the rest rooms!!! Tables are very small and be concerned about knocking something over. Secondly----although the service is attentive, it is a bit TOO much so with a waitress pouring your wine after one sip ---- guess she is very interested in you drinking the $32 bottle of Retsina quickly enough to order another bottle!! Thirdly--noisy with acoustics very poor---be prepared to shout to your companion across the table. Fourthly---although the lamb shank was cooked to perfection, it's flavor was nothing to write home about. The moussaka, however, was above average. Fifthly---ordered the Greek salad which was supposed to contain kalamata olives---it had NOT a one!!---SMALL salad was comprised of onions, tomatoes, feta cheese and cuke slices ---hardly a salad for $14!!! When making the reservation we deliberately indicated it was a birthday celebration and would like a nice table--there was no special treatment/recognition whatsoever. All in all ----- a mediocre experience with a very high price tag!!!

Loved everything about the feel of this restaurant. The terra cotta vase ceiling the lighting, the decor and Greek music softly playing in the background.?The food was amazing! Started off with saganaki, pitakia with pasturma and octopus. All was cooked to perfection! For dinner we had lamb chops, ribeye, Bronzino and shrimp and scallops ouzo. Couldn't have asked for a better dinner. Service was friendly and attentive and when we are back in nyc will definately come back to this place.
