I have been involved in the industry for well over a decade and following the work of Thomas Keller for just as long. I had the chance to eat at the French Laundry several years ago and had been wanting to try Per Se since I learned of its opening but living and working out of the Southeast I almost never get up that way. As fortune would have it I had to travel to New York for a conference and through some friends I met there I managed to get reservations. I've been to many three starred restaurants in my time and this one definitely earned it stars and lives up to Keller's reputation. The decor is beautiful and I was met as though I was a member of the family. The service was equally friendly without being overbearing which I do not enjoy. I had everything thing I needed the moment I needed it with no unneeded interruptions. A quick glance was all that was needed to get the attention of the staff. Overall very professional from start to finish. I of course had the Prix Fixe menu and it was worth every penny and more. I would say it rivaled the experience I had previously at the French Laundry and was every bit as innovate and exciting. The wine selection was fantastic as well and the sommelier was so wonderful to deal with. Overall I couldn't be happier with my experience and would highly recommend it to everyone. I know the price can seem a bit exorbitant but I firmly believe that it is something everyone should experience at least once in their life.

There are two tasting menus, a nine-course chef's tasting menu as well as a nine-course vegetable tasting menu. No single ingredient is ever repeated throughout the meal. They take their time in serving (which in itself is a show) and by the time you leave, you will waddle out

The service and décor is impeccable. Plan for 2 1/2 to 3 hours to have taste buds you didn't even know you had get titillated.

The "salon" that you might seat at if you had no reservations is just not the same as the main room, where all tables have an amazing view of Columbus Circle.

Make a reservation at 10:00am exactly 30 days before the day you wish to go or you might get shut out or have a slot earlier or later than you prefer. the restaurants phone number or Open Table both will work, but I suggest you get online exactly as you call at 9:59:59

The wife and I love fine dining and have eaten in great places all over the world. When people ask what our favorite is, we both independently blurt out "Per Se"

Price is $325 including service per person plus drinks/wine. That's actually a reduction from the $295 + tip of recent days. Given that dinner for two costs what I paid for my first car, it better be a life memorable experience and it surely is.

I was in New York with my wife for our wedding anniversary and this was where we went to celebrate. We have eaten at many fine restaurants all over the world and the meal we had ranks in our top 3. It is hard to know where to start but I will begin with the service. It was in one word, impeccable. The pacing of the food courses was spot on, the advice delivered by the sommelier made for perfect pairings and we truly felt that we very special guests all night long.

The meal started with an amuse bouche, Keller's famous smoked salmon cornets. I remembered eating them many years back and raving to my (then fiancee) about how fabulous they were. I was as excited as a child on Christmas morning when they were presented. That was followed by another classic Oysters and Pearls which was my wife's choice for her first course while I went for the caviar, served with a hiramasa tartare. We proceeded to eat our way through another seven courses before dessert. Each one as good as the one before.

I had the pleasure of working with Thomas Keller when he came to the cooking school I worked at to promote his French Laundry cookbook. He has philosophy of always wanting the diner to think "God, I wish I had just one more bite of that" and this held true for this meal. As the empty plates were removed I was crying inside, but was comforted by the fact that the next course would be another exquisite surprise.

The bread and butter course was sublime - a bitter cocoa brioche with butter that tasted as if it has just been churned from a secret farm somewhere in the basement!

As for dessert - wow it was a mini meal unto itself. From the classic Keller "Coffee and Donuts" to truffles, nougats, sorbet and others we left sated and happy. The takehome "goodie bag" we were given contained another dessert surprise so we could continue remembering how exquisite the experience was as we ate them the following night.

The dining room was beautiful with a great view of Columbus Circle and the whole experience is one my wife and I will treasure for years. From the personalized menus (delivered to us as we left) to the great service and the out of this world food it was truly one of those meals of a lifetime.

I love Per Se!! Had a wonderful evening with friends, enjoying Island Creek Oysters and a 100 day dry-aged rib-eye! The service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing. Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. Love that guests actually dress for dinner here. I recommend this gem to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing evening.

The food is in no doubt fantastic and the overall experience is awesome.

You will already know it costs a small fortune so you would expect top notch service but have been there twice and both times surly waiters who forget they are there for the customer and not to fuel their already inflated egos
