I was recommended to this bar by the Concierge at the hotel I was staying at in Midtown NYC. When I arrived the pub was fairly busy and being solo I was unsure about the place as it was not the usually welcoming pub you find in NYC but that is probably due to its size. If on your own, you HAVE to sit at the bar which I found strange as I was going to eat and found an empty table but I was directed to the bar and luckily there was a seat at the bar and didn't feel comfortable to eat at the bar. The pub staff seem to be happy to chat with each other rather than serving and it took about 5 mins to be served but only after I took the initiative to catch a barman's eye. The staff seemed friendly enough but being busy, they don't have time to chat to customers which is a shame. A pint costs approx $8.
From other reviewers, the food there is supposed to be good. The pub is large and centrally located so as I stated previously, it gets busy. If going solo, I would recommend elsewhere but couples and groups are well catered for. Decent pub serving decent beers and food but lacked the Irish welcoming spirit.
