We picked this restaurant because reviews said it was a quiet restaurant where you could converse. I guess for a NYC restaurant, it might be considered less than noisy, but I have attended basketball games that were quieter. The upstairs is better; downstairs, very loud, with people brushing against your table.’
That said, the food is very good, the service is friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and they have a truly excellent wine list, with very knowledgeable sommeliers. Reservations are a must. But, if you actually want to talk, get a table upstairs.
