Had to wait over half an hour for our table even with a reservation because guests were taking longer than usual because of the holiday season. Complimentary drink would have been nice. Once seated, food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. Waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Every recommendation was spot on. Pappardalle Bolognese, lamb chops, pumpkin and sage ravioli, and panna cotta were all delicious.

Excellent cuisine and Wine List. We had a delicious dinner with friends in NYC. Great atmosphere. Better to book well in advance as it's quite difficult to find a table and remember is not economic but it's worth while.

I don’t know what I was expecting, people complain about the level of the music, but I liked it. Also the hustle and bustle, I liked that too, it’s an Italian restaurant!
But for the price I was expecting exceptional food and service. The service was good, the food... nothing special. We had the pasta tasting menu with a wine pairing. The pasta dishes were OK, the ravioli dishes were great. But a couple of the others were tasteless and nothing special. The mushroom dish was left unfinished by both of us. The location is right, the ambiance is right (for me) but for $95 pasta tasting menu the food was good in places but did not blow me away. I am no foodie but I have eaten in some amazing Italian restaurants and this is not one of them.

Went early on a busy Tuesday night at 5:30pm - 2 weeks before Christmas. The concierge made our reservation 1-2 weeks prior. We were a little irritated when they wanted to escort us to a table upstairs. We were told we had to wait when we requested to sit downstairs in the main dining room. There were ample tables, mind you. Waiting around was easier said than done. There was barely any room. One person told us to stand in one place, another told us to stand elsewhere. Finally, they decided to seat us — at the table next to the kitchen door when there were many empty tables.

Despite all that, we had a good dinner. The food and the waitstaff spoke for themselves. My husband and I had the lobster pasta that was fantastic. So much so that we changed our departure time to enjoy it one more time.

A note on the waitstaff is that they are trained impeccably. They don’t miss a beat. Your napkin is folded when you return fr the restroom. Crumbs swept up immediately when plates are cleared. They are attentive cater to you like you are their only table. Both our waiters were friendly, knowledgeable and so professional / efficient.

On our second and last visit, we were greeted by a much friendlier and nicer gentleman at the door. The bearded one on the first evening was a little abrupt. Our waiter was chattier as it was a little less busy. We were sad to find that the lobster pasta dish we came for was only offered at dinner. When we told our waiter, he disappeared into the kitchen and came back with the best news! They were going to make our pasta for us. We appreciated them making the special exception. He also recommended some other delicious appetizers that were delicious. Our favorite was the warm pesto salsa verde dish with calamari.

The other things we loved were the fantastic olive oil they brought to the table for pasta, bread and dessert. We heard it was from a small production in California. We have just returned from a wine/truffle trip in Italy and we can tell you their olive oil ( and food) was legit! The Bastianich white wine we had was another favorite. At $26 a glass, it had better be fabulous and it was.

A note on the desserts. Sorry but we didn’t love what we had. The olive oil cake was dry. The saffron soufflé was odd tasting. The white chocolate was not great either. But it’s ok. The food really more than stole the show.

All in all, we’d definitely return for the food.

Highly recommended to us by friends, this restaurant requires reservations well in advance. Its a cozy fine dining place and was completely packed (few days before xmas). The choice of meats & fish is endless. The ox tongue ravioli, grilled fish & pumpkin lune pasta - all very good. The wine & cocktails were excellent too. Very attentive service and the server patiently explains every dish / wine if needed.
