Beware - Room pictures are misleading

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 28, 2024via mobile
where to start... it was clean, good location bed was comfortable, water pressure was good and hot. thats it.

where to end- early check in app didnt work despite a reply saying it did.... room was not ready. no one else is there checking in but told theres no other rooms available other than 1. so we take it to find out theres a 3' vertical square support piller dead center in the middle of the room, the window was 4' square and completely obscured by HVAC external piping, could barely see daylight. the elevators were so disturbing, mechanical noises all night long. the room was located directly behind the elevator shafts, 20th floor lounge has been closed since covid ended but still advertised as open on website,

the room was not at all even remotely close to what i reserved, pictures are completely misleading. beware.

this room should have been a storage closet and ive seen other similar reviews on this issue.....

My sister and I stayed here the night before our half marathon to get a good nights rest in close to the start line. At 10 PM as we were going to bed, we discovered an enormous sinkhole in the middle of the mattress that caused both of us to sink into the middle of it. We decided against changing rooms since it was so late and we had to wake up early, and that was a huge mistake since neither of us got restful sleep. We only chose to stay here as a convenient, safe place to sleep, and unfortunately it did not provide that, and we can’t recommend it to anyone. If you’re assigned room 313, immediately request a different one!

Room tip: Check your mattress as soon as you check in and make sure there aren’t any sinkholes and divets in it.

Wonderful location and atmosphere. Our windows faced the 911 WTC Memorial. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Quiet and inviting. Wonderful location. Runita at front desk so personable and friendly. Knew each member of the party by name! Always going out of her way to suggest places to visit and places to eat!!!

I was lucky to have a room with the view of 9/11 Memorial and the buildings. It was a spectacular view. Front desk was very helpful. Check in and check out process is easy by using the ipad. They hold your luggage for free. The lobby and the hotel overall looks very bright and clean. My room was small but still perfect for a couple. Fluffy bed. Cold AC. Hot shower. It takes like 5-7 mins to 3 subway stations nearby. I did a very throughout research before booking a hotel for my trip so the price here is good compared to other places. Will definitely be back.

Room tip: They have a bar in the rooftop. You should definitely check it out.

My room was alarmingly different than the photos on the website, in a bad way. The room also smelled a little of sewage or eggs. It's was a long, musky, dimly lit room, and while the overall square footage might have matched the room shown in their photos, my room was very narrow so felt smaller. The window overlooked an AC equipment thing, and it was a small window to very little light. I asked to be moved but they were sold out, and the front desk person didn't seem to care.

You have to check yourself in. The guy at the desk them barely lifted his head to point to me to the terminal where you check yourself in. It inevitably didn't work, I had to get the guy to help, I asked what went wrong and he mumbled that it sometimes doesn't work.

I get the general trend towards self service in stores, but do we really want to take this interaction away? Why wouldn't this hotel want their staff welcoming people in with a live check in.

I mentioned my displeasure on the way out and the person at the desk also didn't care or even respond. She just pointed me on where I need to go to check myself out, which I did, but then had to ask for a print out.

Oh, also, they don't clean the rooms. I guess that's in the fine print somewhere but I had no idea. You can ask separately but the default is not to clean the rooms.

Overall a bad enough stay that I was thought I should share it here. My bar is low when I'm on business travel. I figure I'm not paying, so it's ok if the hotel is just so so. But this place was decidedly bad. I would not stay here again.

I stayed in room 328 by the way. If you do find yourself staying here, I'd recommend trying to stay higher, and not in this corner spot. 328 was tucked in to a corner a bit and the whole area smelled bad.

and small, with a window overlooking some staff is disengaged and apathetic.

Room tip: Don't stay in 328

This has been such a great stay. I want to personally thank Spencer and Runita for their hospitality and great service. Spencer made me feel right at home for my stay. My room was spacious, nice, and clean and spacious with a kitchenette. Overall a great experience with short walking access to transportation, museums and shopping. I would definitely come again.
