Took the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. The fact that the ferry is free is brilliant. Sailed over and then sailed back. When sailing back you can see the New York skyline brillianlt.

As it’s free, there are lots of people using the ferry but it’s well worth braving the crowds. Most people are patient so don’t worry about being crushed/shoved. The views from the ferry are fantastic so it’s a must for any itinerary.

It‘s a fun way to get to Staten Island. As I remember it‘s free of charge. Always crowded. You can get there easily by subway.

This ferry had a stunning view, and, though not the highest spec inside, had outside observation seats that you could easily see the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan. A must do if in NYC, and costs nothing. Easily accessible by Big Bus Tours and Subway. Close to 9/11 Memorial and subway stations.

We were going to buy the tickets to ride another boat around the Statue of Liberty but the line was so long and it was raining and cold. Our bus driver suggested that we ride the ferry for free to Statin Island and see the Statue of Liberty at a distance. We did this and we loved it. There was no line and we got right on without any wait and ride the ferry on the Hudson River. There was a small food court where you boarded and we enjoyed an inexpensive snack. We didn't get to visit Ellis Island but got to get pretty close to the Statue of Liberty as well as ride a boat on the Hudson River and it was all free with no wait.
