Old hotel in a great location.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
This is a very large old hotel that looks like it hasn’t been updated since it was built. The rooms & bathrooms require some serious updating plus carpets changing. We all had a few bites while we stayed there so not sure if it was from our room.
The rooms and hotel lobbies were clean and there was a nice bar. We didn’t eat in the hotel as there was so many places to eat near by. All the staff in the hotel were friendly, helpful and approachable. The lady on reception sorted us to have a larger room with two bathrooms. This was a blessing with a family of 4 in one room. Thanks to her for that as it made our stay easier.
The location of the hotel is excellent so we could walk to almost every attraction we wanted to visit.

Excellent location. Very clean. Friendly staff. Excellent guest relations Manager (Ms. Samira). The room are pretty spacious and the bathroom is clean. It has luggage rooms with iron and ironing table. No coffee machine. No water bottles. Other very good value for money

Just returned from a 3 night stay after visiting other U.S. cities.
Stayed with my wife and son and I’d pretty much echo what others have said, that it’s ok as a base as long as you’re not planning to spend any time in the hotel room other than to sleep.
Our room was on the 20th floor and was far too small for 3 of us. The room was very dated and in dire need of an update.
We found the check-in staff snd security to be quite short / abrubt. Security acting mike suspicious bouncers, sternly asking to see guests room key before they’d allow you to the elevators. Fine, have security but a little customer service skills wouldn’t go amiss.
Here’s the icing on the cake 1) nearly $100 in facilities fees (none used) to pay at the end of the stay. I mean…what on earth!? 2) $5 per bag, for storage erm…in the hotel you have paid for upfront and erm…paid additional facilities fees! Talk about bleeding you dry with hidden fees.
When we went to collect our bags from storage, one poor guy had just checked in but his room wasn’t going to be ready for a fair while. You could see the look of dismay on his face wheb told the cost to store bags for his family of 7. What a joke.
3 stars for location only. Wouldn’t stay again.

Room tip: Store your bags elsewhere and be careful with these facilities fees as it could add up

Overall had a great stay.at the NewYorker..we had family terrace suite 2 bathrooms(handy),2 comfy queen beds (not huge, but sufficient), separate "living room" with desk, couch and the 2nd bathroom. Everything clean and spotless. Doorman helped us out the moment we drove up. Cleaning lady super friendly and helpful with towels. Our terrace (2212) was decently nice view. We almost were in some room on the 38th floor where the terrace walls were as high as a prison courtyard (like 10 feet!). Some suites have the desk in bedroom (not handy for working with sleepers). No microwave or coffee. Workout gym very decent. Hotel manager was GREAT in promptly handling a check in issue we had with our room assignment. Hallways and rooms have somewhat drab color scheme, but very well-maintained. Great water pressure, solid hot/cold. no leaks, no drips, ice cold AC. Good WIFI. Elevators VERY fast & plenty of them. Their price can vary a LOT for the same room--so shop smartly on websites. We booked directly on Wyndham site and save a TON under "specials"
