Absolutely best part of this hotel is breakfast. Visited hotel with the family of 2+2. Kids just loved the variety of different options in the breakfast. Room and in practice the whole hotel would require a refurbishment. Location very peaceful.

Stayed: February 2018, traveled with family

Booked a room at DoubleTree by Hilton New York City - Chelsea due to its close location to MSG and because we are Hilton Honors members. What we did not know was that if we book through a 3rd party (Travelocity, etc..) we cannot get points for our stay. There are THOUSANDS of hotels in NYC and we could have stayed anywhere, so it was very frustrating to be told that at check in. The room was so tiny, smaller than expected. There was no way our King bed was really a King. We have a King at home. I'm only 5'5" and my feet hung off the edge. The bathroom was literally 3 steps from the bed and so small. We could never have stayed in that room for more than the 1 night we were there. On the plus side, the staff was nice & the hotel was clean

Finding the Doubletree Hotel Chelsea was fairly easy thanks to New York's grid format. It's amazing how many Hilton branded hotels are nearby though, easy to get confused as they all look pretty much the same. However, we had selected this hotel for our stay. Arrival was perhaps the most disappointing part of the stay, although the hotel rectified it admirably. The room we had booked was a King Size but they only had a double available for our first night. Therefore, we would move rooms the next night. Further to this, other guests upon check in were given a bag of cookies, whereas we weren't. We did book the hotel through someone other than Hilton but I am a Hilton Honours member, so found that a bit disappointing particularly as it seemed most people were receiving them. The following morning we woke up to receive a complementary breakfast through the door, which was a very nice touch by way of an apology for the room move. The breakfast was lovely.

The hotel itself is nicely appointed. Rooms are your standard Hilton affair, which means they are well equipped. There was a great large TV, fairly decent Wi-Fi and a very useful in room safe. The room was nice and clean too which always helps. Upon check out, the hotel offers a concierge service which takes care of your suitcases so you can enjoy a last day of sightseeing before an evening flight. This was an efficient process. Staff were generally on the whole fairly decent and friendly.

The only other criticism we would have beyond the check in is the lift situation. We were only on floor 2 but still had to use the lifts. We tried to find a staircase to the main lobby but did not succeed. Therefore, it was quite frustrating waiting for the lifts and they're not particularly quick!

However, the Doubletree Hotel Chelsea was a nice hotel overall. Staff did a good job to make up for the issues at check in and the room was nice and perfect for the trip we made. Would consider staying here again .. although, as said at the start of the review, it doesn't really matter which Hilton you stay in, they're all essentially the same. It all comes down to price, and this hotel won on that front.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We apologize for missing the opportunity to give you our Doubletree cookies, we are working with our team to make sure all guests receive one upon arrival. We are also working to improve our elevator service and hope on your next stay with us you will notice the improvements. Thank you for being loyal to Hilton and a Hilton Honors member.

Rooms were small but clean. Bar service for dinner was very good and professional. Fitness center was poor to average. Planned a lunch meeting there and was rudely told that they no longer serve lunch. Wish they would have published that on their website and in the rooms.

I have stayed in many Doubletree hotels and been quite satisfied in the past. This hotel is quite tall with only two elevators servicing the entire building. It was usually faster to walk down the stairs, even in the middle of the day on a Friday. No complaints with service, front desk staff was kind and helpful. Rooms were small, but that's part of staying in New York. Overall would choose another hotel in the future, especially when you can stay at a Westin or Hyatt for a similar price per night.
