Stayed here for five nights. Right next to the subway on 23rd street which was very convenient. The breakfast was poor. Bagle and muffins each day with cream cheese and jam. The hotel itself is getting tired in many ways but the friendly staff made up for it. Everyone was ready to go an extra mile to make your trip as good as it gets.
We stayed for the weekend and it had everything. We drank coffee on the rooftop bar and enjoyed the location and awesome service! Easy to Uber and not in the middle of the hustle. The staff was helpful and kind.
My partner and I have been coming for over 17 years now. The location is perfect. The staff had always been helpful and friendly!!!! Love them! And the price was right. A few years ago they “updated” the rooms by painting one wall a beige color and changed the old heating/cooling systems. But now everything looks worn and run down. Hear prices are going up so hope the owners take that money to fix things up. There is a new hotel opening up the street so will be interesting to see their rooms.
Stayed for 10 nights in November with sister for my big birthday. Hotel is quite basic but rooms very LARGE by New York standards. Curtains need replacing, ripped and do not close. Reception staff (except form one young American woman) on all shifts not welcoming at all, did not have a very good understanding of the English language. The staff member who was in charge of breakfast room was very rude. On the positive side, we had a double room on the corner overlooking 7th Ave and 23rd Street on the 3rd floor. We were worried the noise from the street would be a issue, but except for one night out of 10 it was not a problem. At night we opened the window and enjoyed the sights and sounds (sirens etc) of New York City. Housekeeping good standard, beds and pillows comfortable, the hotel is so central that you can easily walk all the way to Lower Manhattan one day and up to Times Square the next. Loved the neighborhood, Malibu Diner, the lovely girl at OMG Jeans (we shared the same November 24th birthday) the accommodating people at Manor House Cellars wine shop that brought in California wine especially for us New Zealanders, Jose from Argentina at the local Italian restaurant (go the All Blacks) Jake's Saloon next door and Wholefoods one block away. For price, location, size of rooms and that neighborhood experience you couldn't ask for more.
Would definately stay again.
Nice location, 10 min walk to MSG. Room felt sterile, but at the same time it did the trick. You don’t come to New York City to hang out in a hotel room. Served its purpose, friendly staff, allowed us a late check out. Decent size room and larger bathroom for comparable rooms I’ve stayed in the city before. Fridge in room. Never made it to complementary breakfast so can’t comment on that. Black out shades would have been nice.
