I can't say enough good things about this museum. It's not just art, it's history. The collection is amazing from portraits, to sculptures, to Egyptian artifacts. We spent 5 hours in the museum and only saw one wing. To do it justices you need 2 days. If you don't have that much time, plan ahead and decide which exhibits you must see.

I can spend hours here whenever I come. They have an amazing permanent collection and it's always fun to see their new exhibits as well.

The breadth of this museum's holdings is astounding, and the staff are polite and helpful. You obviously need more than one day here, and we discovered that the admission fee is valid for three consecutive days. This is a huge bonus.

There is no way you can fully appreciate all this incredible museum has to offer. Might I suggest you study before hand what you would like to see, make sure you hit those first, and then just wander into various rooms after that and let your curiosity lead you. My favorites were the renaissance sculpture, the medieval vs renaissance art comparisons, and the Egyptian temple and art.

The best museum I have ever visited but be warned there is too much for one day - in the end we completely missed the art on the top floor as we were exhausted. The americans have certainly accumulated their art from accross the world, and this is sometimes uncomfortable but it is presented in a way that many people can visit and experience.
