I can’t say enough positive things about the downtown Four Seasons. As you can see from my roughly 75 reviews, my wife, daughter and I have stayed in some of the best hotels in Europe and North America. This particular one is in our backyard, and we simply wanted a luxurious background to our young daughter’s rainy-day birthday: an indoor picnic, a swim in the pool, a walk around downtown with umbrellas. Everything from an ambitious kitchen (even for room service) with Peugeot salt and pepper grinders, extremely cordial and accommodating staff, exquisitely beautiful decor both in and out of the room, and an uncrowded opulent feeling without any stuffiness, all of this is achieved, although at a high price. Our no-frills, standard room on the 11th floor was booked at $750 a night, and room service itself is quite expensive. But if you can afford it, you really can’t go wrong here. Covid restrictions are sensible and non-intrusive. The pool, for example, is open all day and limited to about 10 people, but was more or less deserted during our mid week, mid day stay. We had dinner at a popular French restaurant called Odeon and found it a little disappointing, no match whatsoever for Balthazar, which is where I would go if you want a lovely meal or a family friendly place.
