Great staff! I made the usual mistakes of forgetting something (shaving cream) & leaving the room without my key once, but this staff (led by the front desk pro Robert) just responded to this better than other hotels do. San Diego is popular in the summer, so I had to look around for a room with tow queen beds in a pretty good location with good recies at a good price. This hotel surpassed our locations and we will consider it when we return to S.D.

For the amount of traffic this hotel receives, the employees do a stellar job of keeping it well-maintained. The front desk staff also deserves high marks for awesome service.

I wouldn't call this part of Kearny Mesa a 'neighborhood' in that no one really lives there. Instead, it's a hodgepodge of commercial and industrial properties, along with the sort of businesses that tend to be zoned in these areas (like strip clubs). If you're looking for an area you can walk around to enjoy San Diego's weather, this location may not be for you.

Ly at the front desk is a rockstar. We flew in late after a layover in Las Vegas. We wanted something GOOD, but we didn't want to drive far. He recommended The Godfather and the food was amazing. If you are a fan of the film, you will love this restaurant.

We stayed here for two nights while we attended two Padres games. It is located an easy 20-30 minute scenic drive from the ballpark and is also very close to other attractions, including a casino that we went to. We requested an early check-in and were accommodated without a problem by a very helpful gentleman at the front desk. (I think his name was Ly.) He was friendly and talked baseball with us while giving us tips for what to do in the area. The lobby has lots of comfortable seating and the room was comfortable as well.

The breakfast was adequate; they had the basics (eggs, bacon, cereal, etc), but not many other options. Also, the room was crowded which made it sometimes difficult to get food and to find a seat. (On our second morning, we ate breakfast in the lobby.) However, they have fruit and coffee available all day. They also offer the "grab and go" bags, which contained welcome snacks when we drove to LA after check out.

The fitness room was also above average for a hotel - weights and med balls in addition to the usual treadmills. It was also kept very clean, which was true of the entire hotel.

It is clear that the staff here cares about their guests and do everything they can to make sure they enjoy their stay. This, combined with the way in which the hotel is kept up, and the reasonable price and good location, make it a great place to stay.

I am a dedicated Hampton customer. I have been very satisfied with the Hampton brand until now. This hotel was okay when we checked in. Our room was decent. My complaint was the breakfast or lack of. We went down to get breakfast at about 7 am. When we arrived in the breakfast area, there was no food to be found. There was only one regular coffee carafe and one decaf. The regular coffee was empty and the decaf only had about a half cup left in it. There were no pastries, bread, or waffle mix. The eggs and any other hot foods were empty. There were several other families looking for breakfast too. We got the last half cup of coffee and sat down to wait for the breakfast staff to refill items. We thought maybe they had just had a mad rush and were trying to catch up. We sat there for 20 minutes or more and never saw not one staff person. Nobody even brought out more coffee (which a hotel that size should have more than one regular carafe anyway). Everyone was looking and waiting for food. We finally gave up and went back to our room to get our stuff to check out. When we checked out, we walked by the breakfast area. A staffer was refilling the coffee and there was a line waiting. However the food was still empty. When we checked out the deck clerk asked if we were able to enjoy breakfast before we left. I explained our experience but there was no explanation or apology for the lack of food or lack of staff. We left hungry, caffeine deprived, and with a bad taste in our mouth for this Hampton.
