Easy to get to from DC. Scenic. Cozy. They are super hospital and warm people. Everything you're looking for.

The reservation process was really easy. Also they knew the area and provided great guidance on where we could get dinner. The inn keepers work around your day and are happy to help facilitate whatever you need. Whether you're there for the national park battlefield/cemetery or just a lazy weekend.

They are next door to the cemetery and battlefield. Literally. You don't need to get in the car and drive to the next thing. You can walk out the back door, turn left and start walking through the rolling Virginia hills. With a doggo in tow, it was great. Plus Sterling (their dog) is a nice ole girl that is happy to 'see' everyone. They're super accommodation to my dog and happy to meet her.

Is there a rating above "excellent" for sleep quality? Because that would be a better label. The beds are super comfortable.

The breakfast meal service was outstanding. She is a genius in the kitchen. The bread is made fresh daily. There is variety each morning, with two choices from the kitchen in addition to the breakfast buffet; offering home made yogurt with fruits and grains, home made pastries, four varieties of juice, and fresh fruit.
If you opt to big for breakfast, then lunch becomes irrelevant. Early dinners make for a good combination because the nearby restaurants close on the early side.

Nice all natural locally made soaps in the room.

Thank you so much for such a lovey review. We had a great time with you three (give Sam a pet for us!). Hopefully you’ll remember the cricket lessons when watching your next test match. ;) We are thrilled you had the perfect weekend and looking forward to your return visit. Best, Miriam & Will & Stirling

I was so sad to have stayed here only one night! The perfect place when visiting the battle fields and worth the drive if you are doing several battlefield and don't want to change accommodation every night. Lovely hosts, gorgeous stylish and corky decor and delightful breakfast. A must!

It was such a lovely stay with you and your family! We hope you enjoyed your days in DC as well, despite the spring snow! Hoping to have you all return again when you are in the area again.

Traveled last October to several Civil War National Parks, including Antietam. The innkeepers, Miriam & Will Cunningham, run a beautiful B & B adjacent to the National Cemetery and next to the battlefield. Their recommendations for places to dine for dinner were very helpful. Miriam's breakfasts were also tasty. The mark of a truly memorable stay at a B & B is the interaction with the owners as well as other guests. Our stay was highlighted by Will's enthusiasm for our love of baseball. While there, we were able to watch the Dodger v. Astro World Series in their living room. We provided insight into the game of baseball and Will tried to explain cricket to us. We highly recommend staying with them when in Sharpsburg, MD

Room Tip: I think we stayed in the Antietam Suite, which was very spacious.

Hey hey - yes, and further to the cricket, as expected, England got a bit mauled at the hands of the Aussies during the Ashes. All good tho, news of their cheating is being uncovered....we always suspected they were winning by nefarious means, and now there's evidence.
We hope you get a chance to stay with us again and appreciate you taking the time to write a review.

After just over two weeks on the road with my kiddos, ages 11 and 14, moving almost daily from one non descript chain hotel to the next; the Inn at Antietam was such a welcome change! First, the location could not be beat if you are visiting Antietam. It is steps from the battlefield. Second, the owners have done a lovely job creating crisp, clean, visually pleasing suites, that honor the history of the home, but feel refreshed. We stayed in the Capitol Suite, which paid homage to their years in DC. Cheerful DC artwork, lovely colors, nice linens and well appointed all around; the two connecting bedrooms sharing a bath was perfect for us. Most importantly, Marian and Will are the perfect innkeepers- exceedingly interesting, great conversationalists, offer thoughtful suggestions for dinner and surrounds and genuinely enjoy caring for people. Miriam puts out quite a spread for breakfast. Fresh bread, scones, apple strudel, sausage, homemade yogurt and granola, fruit, plus she offers to make eggs and french toast to order. Absolutely delicious, don't miss that. And when she says to take a scone for the road, ask if you can take two!! You will wish you did. Our stay refueled our bellies and our hearts. My daughter said "I think we will be back here". It's just that kind of place. You will want to come back.

Thank you for such kind and wonderful words! We really enjoyed you and your family and do hope you all come back (and bring the dog too!)! It was fun chatting with your children and they are really awesome (and growing to be into fantastically interesting adults as well). Enjoy your Bostonian adventure and come back soon!

It was a large but cozy house for the weekend. Miriam and Will were fantastic company throughout the stay. The beds were super comfortable too. Breakfast in the morning was ridiculous - scotch eggs (i had never tried those, but they were fantastic), fresh bread, pumpkin bread too, apple gallete, bacon, fruit and more coffee than I could drink.

Overall just a lovely stay a short trip from DC.
