Starting with the things to watch out for is the price for parking. It’s $58 a night for self park, and $62 for valet! What they also failed to mention with this price is the 14% tax on top of that they nail you with at check out. If you’re renting a car, that’s a percentage of the price you probably paid per night to have the car in the first place. Second was the AC! It’s a floor mounted unit about 3-1/2 to 4 feet tall, located directly next to one of the beds in the double Queen room. It blasts air directly onto the bed with no way to divert the direction or adjust the fan at the control hub at the room entrance. It’s not possible to sleep or even lay down and relax on the bed. The result is that we had to turn it off at night, which resulted in me sweating through the night each night. Not fun, but no choice. Not sure what the other rooms look like, but I would not get a double queen here, or I would stay somewhere else.
Now to the good part. The views are spectacular. My room was looking directly at Alcatraz, as do most. I believe the ones on the other side of the hotel overlook Fisherman’s Wharf. The hotel staff were great. They also have lots of water stations so you can keep your plastic bottles the entire time, and just re-fill them for free. It’s good water also. The plaza area is very cool to hang out and chill for a while with fire pits, and cool arrangements. The location is right at Pier 39, so the location is great. Overall it’s very worth it, and I would stay here again, but just try to find a way to limit the expenses and chose the room.
