Had a good time staying here while attending a business conference in SF. As with any downtown hotel in a busy city like SF it is best to do so without a vehicle if possible. Many of the hotels down here have high valet fees and parking might as well be nonexistent. None of that should detract from the hotel because that would be the same where ever you stay. Only downside to this hotel is that there isn't a complimentary breakfast however there is a bagel shop right across the street which sells the equivalent for about $2-4 so not really a big deal. I would recommend staying here since it was a little cheaper than the other hotels in the area and just as nice or nicer. Its about 2 blocks from the train and its surrounded by just about every store you could think of so its rather convenient.

First let me tell you the positive. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bed very comfortable. Best goose down pillows. Bed was very clean. Had Starbucks in the room. The neutral: Rooms are small,l stayed i Very old building wiring is on outside of walls. no central heat or air. Just a window unit that is the heat and the air. Suite, very small for suite, but in all fairness it is a big city, and near Union Square. The Bad: Room smelled bad. Like urine. Don't think bathroom was cleaned, hair in tub. Had water in the room $3.50 if you drink the bottle. Even though it had a seal on it, I think was filled from tab. I could see dirt in the bottle. I didn't drink it. Restaurant at hotel food awful and way over price. When I went to restaurant they told me had to have reservation, but that they would be happy to delivery to room. Didn't mention to me that there would be a $4.00 delivery fee, and a 20% room service fee to bring up 4 floors and then they expected a tip on top of that. To top it off I could have gotten better food at a fast food restaurant. Meal of pasta with a few clams was $60.00(after all the taxes and fees) and it tasted awful. Also asked front desk for more coffee and they told me they would bring it up, but nevery did.

Everything at Hotel Abri was just right--other than the location. As a solo female business traveler, I felt unsafe outside the hotel at night and just a few blocks away the neighborhood was totally unsavory.

Room Tip: Street noise considerable--not traffic but voices at 3am yelling obscenities, three nights in a row.

Nice hotel, clean and comfy room if a little on the small side. All the expected amenities. The hotel is very convenient for the shopping area and a hidden gem. We received a very nice welcome pack of wine, water and snacks.

In the hearth of downtown, in Union Square, minutes from the big name shops, the tram turnaround and all the other big name hotels. The rooms are small but well furnished and organized hence they still feel comfortable and since you are not in SF to spend time in your room...it's perfect. The only thing for us was a musty smell in the room but after a minute you don't notice it anymore.
