Being an Iranian Expat living abroad for over a decade, I am always on the hunt for Iranian/Persian restaurants that can offer me a taste close to what I would have at our family dining table. Anar hands down offered it with a smile.
If you have never tried Persian food, stay close to the stews you will find on the menu. Although their Kebabs are some of the best I have had, there is so much more to persian cuisine and it is not exactly easy to find the stews made so well elsewhere, so take advantage and explore.
I absolutely loved Fesenjoon, perhaps the best I have had at any restaurant. Also explore from the appetizer menu, we loved the mirza ghasemi. which also came close to what you would have in the northern side of Iran.
The service was extremely friendly and polite. Price was reasonable and the ambiance is calming. There is plenty of street parking so no worries about where to park.
Will definitely return upon visiting San Fran next.
