Loved the thin, soft crust and the ingredients were very fresh. Toppings were a little sparse, and this will not fill you up if you share. We plowed through one pizza and gladly ordered another. If i were going for lunch or dinner, I would expect to eat twice what I normally would for a regular pizza. Especially like the ham topping. Wish we had this type of crust and freshness near me

I have had my share of wood-fired pizzas and the one I had here was just ok. The crust is very thin, not very generous with the toppings and it was messy because of the thin crust and sauce combination. They recommend 1 pizza per 2 people. Our pizza was $25 and just didn't live up to the kind of local sourced wood-fired pizzas we enjoy back home.

The pizzas here, way back when they opened in 2012, were $8, and that was a fair price. Now they're $20 and a total rip off. They're so thin and flimsy feed you as much as a SINGLE SLICE of pizza that you can walk up to North Beach and purchase by the slice.

Just to clarify. We never sold pizzas, or anything for that matter, for $8. Yes, when we opened 6 years ago, they were less. Our product has been substantially developed since then; we've upgraded each and every ingredient to a level of quality that puts our product in line with all the other wood-fired Neapolitan style pizzas. And currently, pizzas start at $14, not $20 unless you're ordering a pizza with many toppings. It's pretty much in line with pricing of a similar product in north beach.

We needed something fast to tie us over until dinner after our late arrival from the airport. It's a cute little food truck that's been permanently placed with a garden and open air patio. Don't remember much parking...mostly ideal for walk-up service. It's very close to Fishermans Wharf. The pizza was expensive, but tasty. No bathroom or even free water. If you wanted any beverage, it was self-serve out of a case at the counter. We're not pizza snobs, so it was tasty enough for us. :)

Carmel makes excellent wood fired pizza in a permanent food truck fixture with a nice patio to eat. The pizzas range $12+, and are worth every penny. The crispy, wood fired crust is savory, beautifully charred and crisp, and leaves nothing to be desired in a wood fired crust. The sauce is a delicate balance of sweet and savory that is a true testament to the freshly grown organic heirloom tomatoes used in their recipes. Carmel pizza does an excellent job of allowing you to customize a pizza to your liking, or choose a pre made pizza from their excellent menu. Carmel is well worth the trip from any part of the city, and stands up to the “big boys” of San Francisco pizza lore. Carmel is a place that can be truly enjoyed and appreciated by both locals and out of towners.
