Great Location, Potential To Be Amazing, Eyes Wide Open

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 10, 2019
This is our first time staying at the Holiday Resort & Spa in Guam. Typically we stay at the Outrigger but it is sold out this trip. We decided on the Holiday. I'm not gonna lie, the property is a bit run down, so if appearance is your thing, you might want to look elsewhere. Everyone that we have experienced is very friendly, welcoming and helpful...this goes a long way in my book. We were given an ocean facing room on the top floor and the view is amazing. The room is comfortable and includes the bed, a table, and two chairs, a small fridge, a closet with hangers and safe and an instant hot pot for coffee and tea. There is no coffee/tea included in the room though they offer it along with creamer and sugar at the reception desk(free). You can also rent a microwave for $5/day. One thing that the hotel has definitely gotten right is full sized shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. I love this, talk about helping to save the planet by cutting down on plastic from the little mini bottles. The full sized bottles are tamper proof so you don't need to worry about getting something other than the listed content. The hotel is on the beach side of the road and is a very short walk to the waterfront. The hotel offers a mini-mart, restaurants, spa and concierge service. The lobby is very grand and impressive. I haven't gone to look at the gym so I am not sure what it offers. The pool is on the 5th floor and features a great view and a bar. The pool is not a fancy resort style pool, which doesn't bother me because I came to spend time on the beach. This resort and spa have the potential to be really amazing with a serious cash infusion. I personally feel it would be better to play on the old charm rather than modernize. If you are looking for a great location with budget-friendly pricing, give this place a try.

Please ignore this place at all cost.
The location is not bad, but for US 80 per night, there are plently of hotel offer better service and better quality of accomadation than this one.
The hotel is dated and dirty. The management just not bother to done it up! the bed sheet are old, the room is smelly, the handle of bathroom are rusty. The breakfast buffet, at US 20, treat worse than those serve in hostels.
The worse are the staff, An old woman called Angel in the front desk are unfreidendly and full of attitude. They tend to empolyed aging staffs, a porter called Jose is over 60+, he is deaf and very slow, I saw 2 ladies drop their luggage, and instead of helping them, he simply walkway.
I will never stay here again !

The hotel was ok...the lobby is beautiful but that’s about it. The room was ok but the pictures must have been a while ago cuz our room was a lil janky. The view from the room was the best part aside from the cool Aussie bartender out by the pool!

Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed. The lobby is beautiful, the staff were friendly, and after 30 hours of traveling we were relieved... Until we got off the elevator on our floor. The foyer was roped off with caution tape and the flooring was ripped up. The ceiling down the hallway had what appeared to be water damage, patches missing, and mold. As soon as we opened the door to the room we were hit with this damp, pungent odor. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, around the light switches, on the carpet, under the carpet (which wasn't stapled down), in the vent... It was disgusting. I was really upset because the pictures looked so pretty online and it was right on the beach. They offered us another room, and while we were waiting to be shown in we were walking around the hallway and there were plastic shopping bags full of garbage tucked around the corner on the floor. It smelt terrible. The second room they showed us looked cleaner but it still had that moldy smell to it. The room was very old, worn, and had stains all over the carpet. We were all just too grossed out to stay. If other rooms are available, why put someone in such a gross room on a floor that is either being renovated or repaired? I can't imagine thinking that room is acceptable for booking.

Staff was very nice, accommodations were horrendous. Those awaiting execution during the “Inquisition” probably had better rooms. Wish I could give it a -10. If the walls/ceilings weren’t bubbling from leaks and moisture, there was black mold to take its place. We were offered an upgrade, we politely declined. Too bad I can’t post the videos I took as well.

The bellmen are the best part. They are friendly and prompt. The front desk were rude and unhelpful. We got in at 6:00 am and although I had an email stating they would accommodate me with early check-in they made us loiter around the reception area until 3pm. Check in time. It was not they did not have a room its just their way of scamming for more money. I could have had a room for $75 bucks. The reception area is nice and restaurant is nice but expensive. $21 of the breakfast buffet. Once given my room, found that only 1 of 3 elevators to be working. Once to the floor the hall ways were dirty and very dated. Stained carpet throughout. The room very old and dated no view and no hot water. This hotel is way overpriced and rated.

Room tip: Not worth the money
