Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed. The lobby is beautiful, the staff were friendly, and after 30 hours of traveling we were relieved... Until we got off the elevator on our floor. The foyer was roped off with caution tape and the flooring was ripped up. The ceiling down the hallway had what appeared to be water damage, patches missing, and mold. As soon as we opened the door to the room we were hit with this damp, pungent odor. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, around the light switches, on the carpet, under the carpet (which wasn't stapled down), in the vent... It was disgusting. I was really upset because the pictures looked so pretty online and it was right on the beach. They offered us another room, and while we were waiting to be shown in we were walking around the hallway and there were plastic shopping bags full of garbage tucked around the corner on the floor. It smelt terrible. The second room they showed us looked cleaner but it still had that moldy smell to it. The room was very old, worn, and had stains all over the carpet. We were all just too grossed out to stay. If other rooms are available, why put someone in such a gross room on a floor that is either being renovated or repaired? I can't imagine thinking that room is acceptable for booking.
