We came here after hours and it was so quiet and peaceful. The parking lot was full of cats. At least 30 cats and a little siamese cat resting in the grass.

At this state park I counted 33 hungry cats as well as chickens in the car park. Apparently there are more and they are neutered and released here and fed but there are so many and they will come up to you and ask for food and pats.
They act like pets who have been dumped here - very friendly. We went back with a bag of cat food for them and many ran up to us and ate.
We also fed the stray chickens here and all over Oahu, many who had little fluffy yellow chickens. Very sweet and friendly but in need of any attention they can get.

The park has good views of the traditional fishing ponds and surrounding water but their are lots of good reviews on that - just drive slowly into the car park.

My wife grew up in the Kaneohe area, we always visit He'eia State Park and the He'eia Pier. We bring our fishing poles and spend the day. We don't care if we catch anything, but the atmosphere is so relaxing. Most times we catch and release, but if we do keep we eat all the fish or give it away.

The park is the house of our tour which included Kayaks and a view of the Gilligan's Island. The park is super well maintained and the facilities have showers and clean restrooms. They also have a little store inside to buy souvenirs and water stuff for snorkelling.

He'eia State Park has beautifully maintained grounds with excellent facilities, including an event building, large clean restrooms, and showers. From the park area you get great views of the ancient fish pond at Kaneohe Bay. There are picnic tables for your own picnic lunch, or you can enjoy the tour-included lunch in a beautiful, peaceful setting. This state park is the base for Holokai Adventures which offers best-in-class kayaking, snorkeling, and sailing tours and equipment rental.
