Owner description: At Maui Easy Riders we specialize in two very different types of tours. Downhill Bike Tours on Haleakala and "Private Tours" of the Road to Hana. The "Private Tours" of the Road to Hana are exclusive only, we do not combine groups for this tour. The Downhill Bike Tour is also offered privately. On the downhill bike tour we ride custom made bikes (Worksman Cycles) 25 miles and 99% of the whole ride is downhill. The bike tour is entirely on paved roadways and there is an escort van that covers your back the whole time you are on the bike. Sometimes we reach high speeds on the bikes and other times we just cruise. It's nice to have the flexibility to meet the needs and desires of each group. It's an amazing rush riding down Haleakala on one of our bikes, it is the worlds largest dormant volcano and we ride down the steepest paved road in the world...amazing! Our tours are completely guided. We are pretty much always available to answer any questions you may have either by phone or by email. We do run the longest bike tour available on Maui. Others may say the same thing, but we have a tape measure available for you to use while you are with us, just in case you wish to measure it for yourself. Honestly and seriously, we run the best bike tour on Maui and we don't see that changing anytime soon. If you're looking for a tour that does not herd you around and guides that truly love what they do, then look no further. We are easily one of the top 10 tours on Maui and one of the top 10 things to do on Maui! Most people try to saw their car in half if they don't have a bike, just so they can go down Haleakala on two wheels. That's how cool our tour is. Please call us before you try that! We offer our tour at 9am or in the afternoon at 1:30. Sorry, we are unable to pick you up from your hotel at 2:30 in the morning to see the sunrise. You will just have to "sleep in" on your vacation. The cost is $99 per person or book a private tour with up to 8 riders for $700.. Those are unbelievable savings, call now while we still have our tour in stock! If you are under 12 y/o we cannot take you on our downhill bike tour. Check out our webpage for other restrictions. If you are interested in our "Private Tour" of the Road to Hana, "that tour is not on a bicycle", please call us, or email us through our website. The Private Tour of the Road to Hana is by car. The Road to Hana Tour is "exclusive to only you and your particular group" whether it is 1 or several people. The tour goes to many hidden and out of the way places that you would other wise most likely not see without a guide. The Hana Tour is customized to you and your group. We can go cliff jumping, swimming in "waterfalls", body surfing in the ocean, snorkeling, "hiking", swimming in caves, sightseeing, so much more, and all on one tour. This tour can be extreme and adrenaline filled or it can be simple and chill, whichever you prefer. Please feel free to call for more details. Check out the reviews, people love it!

Everyone had recommended that we does this while visiting Maui and my husband and I are so glad that we did this! Billy with Easy Riders made this experience incredible! I'd recommend this company to everyone that I know looking to do this excursion!

We enjoyed our 25 mile bike ride down the Haleakala Crater Road. Billy and his staff took extra care to see that we were comfortable and ready, including water, wind jackets and, of course, helmets.

My husband and I were the only ones on the tour that morning (the most Billy takes is 6 riders), so we had a private ride. Although you move along at a pretty good clip along hairpin turns I always felt safe for 2 reasons. First, you only go as fast as you want. Second, Billy rode in front of us while the van followed. If cars came up from behind, Billy would get us off the road. All we had to do was follow him. We did not need to be looking over our shoulders. Also, the bikes are the best with large comfortable seats.

The best part? After years of doing this, the staff still gets excited by orange and purple blooming trees, beautiful scenery, and wild peacock sitings.

So, if you like an safe, adventurous ride with beautiful scenery and a host who tells really bad jokes, this is the ride for you.

Matt and Kyle were our guides and they entertained us on the ride up and we’re professional on the ride down. This was a great ride since my husband has a bad back and numb leg from back surgeries but due to it being 99% downhill it was no problem. Views coming down from the crater are amazing and you make a couple of stops on the way down for photo ops and to peruse one of the adorable towns along the route. Weather has been iffy so I’m glad we didn’t do the sunrise tour since we wouldn’t have seen the sun. Sleep in and enjoy your vacation and take this ride with the whole family. The 9:00 leaves plenty of time in the afternoon to do something else or hang around Paia for dining and shopping. Great guides make a great day!!!

We had researched the volcano and bike tours down and Maui Easy Riders had an excellent write up with most people commenting how friendly Billy was. We arranged our tour directly and since the cruise ship docked on the other side of the island, Billy made a special booking, picking us up in the square, taking us up the mountain via a rest stop for breakfast. We had a tour around the volcano which was simply amazing, like looking at the moon. After we left the National Park it was time to get on the bikes which are really comfortable for the 23 miles downhill. The breaks were a real necessity coz you pick up speed quickly. We always felt safe as Billy was out in front controlling the speed and his partner in the van holding back the traffic until it was safe for them to pass. We had a fantastic trip witch also ended with a trip to a turtle beach where we could see 20-30 huge turtles basking on the sand.
The trip will Billy was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Maybe next time we’ll cycle up the mountain, ha ha.

Billy is very personable and engaging. He not only knows the history of the area he also knows much about the flora and fauna. He not only keeps his equipment in good condition he checks again before heading down the mountain. It was a fun trip and kept two fourteen year old girls interested!!
