My wife and I booked this B and B at very short notice and spoke direct with Hilary to arrange the accommodation. She answered several questions in a very friendly manner.

On arrival we were welcomed by Paul who helped us with taking our cases to our room which was very spacious, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean.

Almost straight away Hilary provided us with cake and a welcoming drink

We stayed for 4 nights and every evening when we returned to our room there were 2 pieces of cake there for us.

Being Gluten Free I am always a little concerned that any Hotel/B and B will be able to cater for my needs. I needn't have worried as almost everything was available as GF. My wife is on a particularly low fat diet and again she was provided with a suitable breakfast .

Breakfasts offered a wide choice of starters/mains etc.

One evening after having out a full lunch Hilary provided us with a High Tea - which was more than adequate and very tasty,l

All in all a quite outstanding B and B in every respect A lovely house with very friendly hosts who happily made time to speak with their guests

We will be returning and passing on our thoughts to friends

We came down to bring our son to the University of York. We had pre-booked for a room for 2 and at last minute realised our son could not move into his Dorm until the following day. Mindful that they were fully booked and thinking it would be impossible, Hillary and Paul (Owners) made the necessary changes at the last minute to accommodate our son into our room. This was our first WOW before arriving!
On arrival, we were welcomed by the owners in a way that only family welcome their own. What a lovely and welcoming couple. They took us to our room and fell in love with the room, decor and view.....it was perfect. 30 minutes later we had tea, scones, coffee and ginger biscuits waiting for us in the sitting room. The beds were very comfortable and our evenings were tranquil as you do not hear a sound from the road.
Breakfast was superb. Plenty to eat and a warm and cozy setting. We spent two nights at the B&B and have now booked for late October. We rarely used our car to go into the city as the 415 bus takes you to and from the city centre easily. There is a bus stop (The White Swan) just outside the gates of the B&B.
It was an all around fantastic experience. This will be our B&B for at least the next 4 years until our son graduates from University.
