After a long day of travel, we stopped at Dixie Bones, hungry and tired. Hubby wanted BBQ and I’m a vegetarian, so we looked at the menu online and saw some suitable options for me. The atmosphere is so welcoming and so is the staff. There were a few good vegetarians options, such as baked potatoes, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Rather than just being “side items”, the options were ample servings for a meal! My husband ordered a two part brisket meal with sides and the brisket was so tender and moist.
The star of the show though is the waitstaff! Our waiter was so accommodating and friendly! I always love it when waitstaff don’t even need a pad to write down orders! He was quick to recommend specific items depending on our preferences and even indulged my southern hubby with honey and warm milk for his cornbread!
While the food is scrumptious and portions are more than adequate, I have never felt more welcomed in a restaurant before. They treated us like family and when you’re traveling, that makes such a huge difference!
Oh and try the coconut pie or the bread pudding. Save room for dessert. You won’t regret it!
