President's weekend, the weather was perfect, our room was on the 3rd floor. Erica took care of our room. It was the best weekend! Definitely would stay here again. It was a convenient walk to most places on the boardwalk.

Our stay at Hilton Garden Inn was delightful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and quiet. The view was spectacular. We would recommend this hotel to any couples, businessmen, or families. (Note that we stayed here in the offseason. So no parties or beach gatherings were happening.) All in all, a great trip and the price was reasonable for the location and time of year!

Enjoyed the room, the ocean view, the breakfast buffet, exercise equipment, and heated pool on a weekend getaway the week after Valentine's Day. The staff was friendly, room was clean. We could even see dolphins swimming in the ocean our first morning from our balcony room.

We had a two bed room on 10th floor and paid around $135. The view was very nice - I used the fitness center which was fine but did not provide sanitizing wipes to clean the treadmill and you could see a lot of dried sweat drops from previous users. The pool was part indoors and part outdoors which was nice - though facing the street side of pool. Location on the boardwalk is good if your kids want to use the nearby play structure on the beach. We also stayed one night at Comfort Inn & Suites - My husband liked this hotel but I liked Comfort Inn better as the room was only $110 and was an actual suite with each bed in its own room, had closer parking, indoor pool had ocean view, and included free breakfast.

We've stayed in VA Beach a few times during February over the past years, to attend an event at the Convention Center. In past, we stayed at other beach side hotels on these weekend trips. Hilton Garden Inn on the beach is the best of the beach side hotels we used while attending this event.

As HiltonHonors, we checked in via on-line process, and able to change room from a mid-level floor to top floor, to ensure a more quiet stay. We booked a deal with AAA that included a king bed suite and breakfast. (Unlike most Hilton Garden Inn's, breakfast is not standard part of the package, but is similar set-up as other Hilton Garden Inn's). We arrived 7PM on a Friday night with another party staying in a different room, and walked right up to the desk, got our room keys and breakfast vouchers, two free bottles of water, and parking pass for the parking garage across the street (self service, although valet is available for extra fee). The service at the desk was fast and friendly.

Upon entry, the room was clean and comfortable. We dropped luggage, and went to grab dinner after a 7 hour drive to get there. We went to the lobby to check out Lager Heads for dinner. The wait was 30 minutes, but the kids travelling with us liked the menu, so we put names in for the wait, and some went out to scout other locations nearby. They came back 15 minutes later, and said Lager Heads it is. Dinner at Lager Heads was good. Burgers and steaks were standard fare for a few of us, while others tried the crab cake sandwich and flatbread item. Again, service was relatively fast and friendly.

We ate breakfast in the breakfast area at Hilton Garden Inn during the first morning. The made to order breakfast was good for most of us, and service also friendly. It was nice to sit and watch the people out on the sidewalk/boardwalk, the beach and water, and the palm trees (for those of us coming from the north).

We were outside the hotel virtually the entire day after breakfast, until 9PM. The kids used the pool for about 15 minutes or so, it was clean and relatively quiet at that hour on a Saturday night, although the hotel was full. After that, we went out to eat, returned about 11:30 PM or so to crash, got up late the next morning, and checked out. Check out was also fast and friendly.

Pros:
- Friendly and efficient service at the desk and restaurants. No wait for table at breakfast reasonably early on a Saturday morning (8.:15 AM).
- Large, clean suite, with two TV's, plenty of electrical outlets for charging all the devices.
- Balcony directly on ocean side with view of the beach and ocean
- Fairly modern hotel, in good condition
- Self-service parking right across the street
- Location close to center of the beach front, with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby
- Good restaurant choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner inside the hotel as well
- Large, comfortable king bed
- Modern bathroom, with plenty of counter space around one sink, and glass enclosed shower (no tub is a plus, unless a jacuzzi tub). Excellent water pressure in sink, despite top floor.
- Good coffee maker and selection in room.
- Reasonably good value for large suite on top floor on the ocean with ocean view and breakfast for three included on each day (6 breakfasts in total) on Fri and Sat nights
- Anyone sleeping on the pull out couch in the living area is exposed to noise or sound of people in the hallway, as well as light coming in under the door (although we used towels to block the light).
- Only two elevators despite 14 floors, but never experienced any long waits, despite a full hotel

Cons
- HVAC worked well (we used both heat and cool settings during the stay, as first night was cool, but second night was warm), but did not allow you to directly change the temperature
- All-in-one bathroom behind a single door, is fine for a single or couple, but not as great for a family that must share shower, toilet, and sink. More difficult to share when room has older children (teens) with adults.
- Shower water pressure varied at different times, or even during the same shower. While in the shower on Sunday morning, the hot water setting suddenly went cold for a minute, and then returned to hot. Our friends staying on a mid-level floor had a problem with their shower on the first evening, and had to call for service.
- The hotel is large, so the parking deck has 8 floors. Since we came home late from the Convention Center on Saturday night, there was not a single parking space open on the first 6 floors - - had to park all the way up on Level 7 - - a lot of driving to get up and down, but reasonably good and fast elevator in the parking garage.

Room tip: Highest floor possible, and as far from elevator as possible
