Wharepuke restaurant is well known in these parts for its excellent food and attractive sub-tropical gardens. The only problem is the noise: it is little more than a large garden shed and when full -- as it often is -- the decibel level of thirty or more conversations is torture. There are a few outside tables though the weather dictates their usage. The food however, though unquestionably over-priced, is always very good indeed. Recommended at quiet times, if there are any.
