Best part of the room - the view and cold air-con
Nothing in the room was clean. Towels were old, thin and yellowed. Dirt and marks on walls, bedside table veneer was peeling, bed was sagging and sheets were just clean. Won’t mention the carpet.
Definitely not 4 star as their website states and glad the room didn’t cost much more.

Although an older Hotel; we do feel this is reflected fairly in the price.

The Ocean Beach Hotel has been a hangout for generations of Perth young people. It's universally known as "the OBH." The OBH is on the waterfront, in Cottesloe. The golden girls and boys come out to play.
Location was amazing right opposite Cottesloe Beach ,Staff were all very friendly and Helpful every time I went out and re entered the premises The staff at the desk always greeted me .
The Hotel is old and showing its age ,The rooms,The room I stayed in 205 was a good size and comfortable , although certainly not deluxe , Room carpet was cleanish but a lot of stains and the bed was comfortable However ,The pillows smelled disgusting as though they had never been replaced or aired ,They smelled old , years of sweat from previous guests ,The lady at reception did explain to me that they do replace the pillows on a regular basis however they certainly did not smell that way ,I was happy that I had bought along my own pillow for the trip, The walls and floors must be paper thin as the noice level was terrible ,Plumbing noises ,loud televisions ,Inconsiderate guests slamming doors that echoed throughout ,And last of all the shower head in the bathroom was more like a garden sprinkler ,Water went everywhere except where it is supposed too ,It was an old relic fitting that would cost little to upgrade to a useable shower head .
I ate Each night in the Hotels restaurant and the food was delicious I certainly would recommend the restaurant.
The Hotel has a lot of potential but needs money spent on it

The Hotel is actually planning a redevelopment so this would address any other issues.

Stayed again at the OBH, ( 3rd time) love it for the position , space and above all the staff.--so friendly and helpful, with a special mention for Lynda on reception who went out of her way to make my 2 night stay lovely. . A slight hiccup on arrival over my booking was quickly resolved by her . The style of the rooms may be a bit faded but they are large and immaculately clean , large room, powerful shower, fridge and sink in the living area, and very comfortable bed. It's a quick walk to the shark-netted beach by the Indiana but the beach opposite the hotel itself is lovely for a swim and the hotel has free beach -towel loan (useful as it means not having to pack one) . The accommodation is in one building and the pub and restaurant is in another beside it . so this review is mainly about the accommodation. One quirk is that the TV is at the opposite end of the large rooms , so I was reluctant to used it much as I didn't want to disturb others but this wasn't really an issue for me . The bus stop outside takes you to the station or Cottesloe Village shops, although it's only a 15 min walk anyway. Bottleshop at the back of hotel and I recommend the Thai restaurant 'Spice Kitchen ' near it , which is BYO and lovely food. I'm not inclined to recommend the bar food in the hotel bar, I tried it twice and it was disappointing and the bar staff seem bored and disinterested.I didn't try the restaurant

We had drank at the bar, ate at the restaurant and now had a cracking stay at the OBH. The place is awesome.
Might not be for everyone but for my family it was perfect.
Directly opposite North Cottesloe beach, the building may look odd from the street but honesty once inside it is great. Honest old style building but the rooms are clean and well appointed. We had the advantage of being on the top floor with a view but I poked my head in another room on the side of the building and it was similar in style and being just and honest abode.
Everything is in walking distance and the option of the pub next store is a must.
Will stay back here again anytime in Perth.
