The room was spacious. At first, it was found difficult to open and locked. The restaurant was small with limited choices. The popular choice should be pizzas. The morning walk was refreshing and tranquil. The merit was that it was near the pier.

As mentioned in other reviews this hotel is not 4*. The communal areas are in desperate need of a freshen up. The bedroom had a great view of the ocean and the bed was very comfortable. The towels in the bathroom were very thin and not very absorbent. When we checked in the receptionist was not very welcoming, perhaps she had had a long day.

I was a bit concerned ahead of our stay due to some of the reviews I had read about this hotel. When we arrived we were shown to one of the motel rooms which had a sea view. We pointed out that we had booked a villa room and were told we had been upgraded. We did get a villa room when we asked and we much preferred this. These rooms have a separate lounge area and small kitchenette. They do not have a sea view but are nice and airy and have a small area outside to sit. The motel type rooms were smaller and had a patio/balcony. We were happy in the room we chose. It was all comfortable.

I mean. The ground floor double room did serve the purpose and I slept well. Yet I agree with everyone here - it is NOWHERE near a 4-star rated hotel, more like a 2-star motel. I would recommend it if you just need to crash somewhere close to the ferry terminal and you are not after a beautiful/luxurious room.

What I liked:
- the location - nearby the ferry. Easy to get to after the ferry journey - it is a 3-minute walk.
- I actually slept well - the beds were comfortable.
- The rooms and the bathrooms are super spacious.
- You get lots of (alias mismatched) toiletries.
- nice view from our room. I mean there were bins and car parks, but there was a sea view behind them.
- local beach/shop/restaurants/cafe - two minutes away.
- fridge in the room - handy.

What I did not like:
- the price
- the room was dusty and the bathroom mirrors were actually dirty :/
- the balcony was even dirtier - we could not enjoy it at all
- deco. 10/15-years-old, I reckon.
- poor communication. On our arrival day I noticed that the room was dirty. I tried to talk
someone about it but noticed that there was no one at the reception. No one told us that it shuts at 19.30. We also did not know how to leave the building that night as no one again told us about the complete lock down. Luckily the next day I found an old directory with an exit instructions.

Rooms are dirty, had to wash cups before having a cup of tea. Beds are uncomfortable, room smells and is old looking. Sorry can’t say anything nice about this place. This hotel is not a four star property but most likely a two star

The location was close to the ferry and had lots of local eating options. However the over standard of the hotel did not match the promotional photos or meet four star standard...in fact it is old and tired and needs quite a bit of work. The size of the rooms were good, and the view from the room was great, however in many little ways the standard of building maintenance just eroded the experience. In hindsight, if you are exploring all of Kangaroo Island, this is a good place to perhaps stay for a night or two to explore this end of the island and then stay at the other end to explore that end.

Room tip: Upstairs ocean facing rooms are great
