Went for March break with my teen son and his girlfriend. What can I say...this resort goes above and beyond for you!! Beautiful beach and fabulous pool!! Staff was outstanding. From Yenny (sorry if I misspelt) Pedro and Julio Caesar at the Diamond club beach bar...worth the upgrade. Our housekeeper Sandra did a fabulous job and always smiling!! The lobby bar staff all fab. Morning cappuccinos were delicious!! Buffet with fresh fish. Yummyyy!! Also our chef at the grill at the diamond club was great!! Fresh fish every day. He ran out of chicken one day but found me some for me. I know I’ve forgotten people but honestly the service was just so good everywhere. I’ve travelled to many beaches and this beach by far was one of the most beautiful. White sand and the bluest water. Oh almost forgot the nightly entertainment. Just amazing!!
I loved memories so much I’m bringing my fiancé in a few weeks!!

This was our 7th time in Cuba and Memories Flamenco is the top one so far. We travel with our kids now 9 and 11 and we all had a great time. And sounding like a broken record here but it’s the people that make this place what it is. Location is also good on a beach with two other resorts , Pestana and Melia, 15 minutes from the airport. This seems to be the smallest one but with a nice cozy atmosphere, friendly workers that know how to make you feel welcome and management that understands how to stand out from the crowd.
Yes, nothing is absolutely perfect but you’re not paying for that either. For our last vacation in Jamaica we paid 50% more but the service here was miles ahead of what we received in Runaway Bay.
Beach is nice and wide but man made so there are crushed shells mixed with sand everywhere. Probably 1.5km towards Melia and another 2-2.5km to the next resort so we got spoiled with long walks on the beach, very relaxing. No more pier or coral for snorkeling after the hurricane but shallow, clear turquoise water, and no motor boats allowed in this area.
Plenty of palapas so you can find shade any time of day if you’re willing to go a bit further from the beach bar to the left. At the main pool the towel dance is in full swing but that’s really no different from any other resorts. Chairs are stacked by the pool with the swim up bar and if you ask the guy in charge he’ll bring you some even in the middle of the day. Main pool is where all the action is, and all kind of games and music go on until 4:30 or so.
At midday they make food by this pool and at 11:30 they start making churros until 4:30 as well.
There is a Mojito station right next as well, open during the day. When that closes there are several others popping up in front of lobby bar, or buffet, that will make cocktails and specialty coffee.
Buffet gets busy but you have a heat map of the busy times. It’s air conditioned, food is replenished as fast as they can and even though somewhat repetitive the food was more varied than at other resorts we’ve been to. There’s tons of personnel that serve there and they all try to be helpful and do it with a smile. Is where they have music or acrobats in the early evening.
During your stay you can book 2 or 3 a-la-carte restaurants as well. They have 4 - Italian, Mediterranean, Cuban and Asian. We went to all but the Italian and enjoyed the good service, food was ok, I think we liked the Mediterranean the most but they are close
Live music is always present, when opening the buffet they play the Memories anthem, they dance and welcome everyone. Usually live music at the lobby bar as well, great drinks, coffee and vivid atmosphere.
Which brings me to the shows, every night aside from Sunday. Good entertainment, the show comes after the kids show and pre-show so right after 9. Few other things we found:
-Couple of souvenir shops on site, market about 10 minute walk, as you leave the hotel to the left
-xchange at the reception desk or just behind it is an xchange desk from 9:30 to 6, you get 14 CUC for 20CAD
-lunch - you can get burgers dogs, chicken fries and veggies on the beach next to the bar, and by the pool where they also make churros. Snack bar also serves food 24/7
-Internet works pretty well in the lobby area only, 1h access card is 1.50CUC you buy them on the opposite side of reception
-Marina opens at 9:30 and they have a break between 12-2PM. Catamarans, kayaks, pedal boats and a couple of windsurfs. Catamaran is with a guide only, they would also take you to a snorkeling spot not far off the shore, 20CUC for adults and 10 for kids, 1.5h altogether with 45 mins in the water. Life vests are pretty beat up, they could use a refresh
-tea station- by the lobby bar(s) to the right of the Diamond Club bar which is at the right of the main bar
-no snacks that I could find anywhere aside from 24h bar which serves sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, fries and poutine and drinks, they make pizza starting at 11:30 as well
-buildings 1-2 and 3 are closest to everything and the top floor is renovated on all buildings because they were damaged by the hurricane. They’re still rebuilding and repairing everywhere which is good to see
-lobby bar opens right after 6AM so if you’re a morning person you can get a good coffee that early
-tips are not expected but appreciated
-pool is clean, but around the pool you’ll find cigarette butts here and there
-good cheese selection at the buffet, the usually pasta and pizza station and the 2 grills for seafood and meats. Fresh bread every day and two toasters will pop up every morning. They make fresh sushi at night, fresh fruit juice and salad station
-fruit - most probably what’s in season as they don’t import much, papaya, pineapple and guava mostly this time of year, also saw watermelon did not see bananas
-horseback riding is to the left of the resort 15CUC per one hour. Looks like fun
-kids activities throughout the day at the beach and by the main pool
-Animacion - best we’ve seen at any resort, really active. With that being said if you want quiet I would go close to the tennis courts buildings 9-10 area, buildings 1-2-3 hear everything that’s going on around the pool or theatre
-tennis courts, soccer/ basketball fields are the furthest from reception, gym (9-5PM) doctor (24h) and spa are next to it
-for 5CUC per person you have a day ticket for the hop-on hop-off bus that goes around the island. Playa Pilar is one of the stops, also the big Market and all the hotels. It’s a double-decker bus so a fun, cheap experience
-If you have any issues to report I suggest talking to Customer Service, I reported an issue a few times talking to reception and others and they’ll say yes but you won’t see anything done
-as you look at the see walk left for a better view of the sunrise/ sunset
-we did see ants in our room on third floor so make sure you don’t leave food around to attract them. Also saw a couple of tiny frogs in the hallway but we didn’t freak out, you’re in the middle of nature after all.
-soccer tournament some days at 5 so bring your shoes
-you’ll find the beach towels in the room and they can be exchanged at the Club House by the swim-up bar
-in-room safe is free of charge
- Buffer and a-la-carte restaurants are air conditioned

All in all a very good resort, good prices, we will probably come back next time we choose Cuba. BTW this resort is miles ahead of the Memories Cayo Santa Maria.

Room Tip: 3rd floor of each bungalow is newly renovated

Memories Flamenco is our Cuban favorite! Our Cuban Home...the beach and the staff makes you want to come back always...Rosa and Raydel at the buffet are soooo efficient , and we had the pleasure to be served by Rolando in the evening..and Madeleine, Yanet and Luis at the lobby bar are always busy to keep us happy...we loves chicho who plays sax twice a week...the food is plentiful and very good, all the grilling station are great, but our very favourite is certainly Divan( Diban) who cooks and entertain us always he remembers how I like my food...sure the beds are not the most comfy, but the rooms are clean and well designed. We are frequent travellers...the key is not to compare and enjoy the premises...but the value for the $ is Excellent ☀️⛱
