“Best thing to happen to runcorn ”

Ranked #17 of 18 things to do in Runcorn
Attraction details

This bridge is right on my doorstep, wouldn't hesitate twice to go over it at any given time unlike the silver jubilee that was a no go zone after 3.30pm. It has helped with traffic immensely around runcorn and widnes and even further areas.
Being a resident I pay £10 for the year. With access to other vehicles I find it easy to cross and pay the fees online.

Travelled from Liverpool airport first time across the bridge. Don’t ind paying mind £2 charge but u don’t get enough time (midnight of the following day) I was 1000 miles away on holiday and forgot. £40 fine reduced to £20 if you pay within 14 days. Not on really if you’re allowed a bit more tie to remember would be better but suppose that’s what the greedy ******** have realised.

It has been worth the wait for Mersey Gate way to be completed, but credit due, it is a excellent achievement. Driving across is a breeze so to speak, no more hours of delays. For locals only a fee of ten pounds, gets them one years unlimited crossings. People who cross and are not covered by the scheme must ensure they go on line, or telephone Mersey Gate way, to ensure they do not occur a fine for none payment (be warned)

This bypasses the congested Silver Jubilee Bridge (currently closed and undergoing improvement), and has completely done away with the frequent queues and accidents. It is a magnificent engineering achievement, with three lanes in each direction. One could argue that it is in the wrong place, but for locals it is an excellent improvement, as it is free to use after paying a small annual fee. Not the same for outsiders, who have to pay a toll by the end of the day following their crossing, or pay a fine. This can be difficult and confusing. And the signage is a mixture of good and confusing, especially the roundabouts on the Runcorn side.
